Daily & Weekly Events

Beyond the main story, Pokémon Emerald offers a wealth of daily and weekly activities that can significantly enhance your gameplay experience. Engaging with these recurring events provides opportunities to acquire rare items, train your Pokémon, and even catch unique species. Staying on top of these schedules is key to maximizing your progress in Hoenn.

Daily Events

1. Berry Picking and Replanting

  • Location: Various locations across Hoenn where Berry patches are found (e.g., Route 103, Route 111, Route 120).
  • Action: Check all planted Berry trees daily. Harvest ripe Berries and immediately replant new ones.
  • Strategy: Prioritize planting rare Berries like Liechi, Ganlon, Salac, Petaya, and Apicot, which can be obtained through the Berry Master's wife or by mixing specific Berries. Use the Wailmer Pail to water them for faster growth and higher yields. This is crucial for creating powerful Pokéblocks for Contests.

2. Daily Lottery

  • Location: Lilycove City Department Store, 3rd Floor.
  • Action: Speak to the woman at the counter once per day.
  • Strategy: The last digits of your Trainer ID number are compared to the ID numbers of your Pokémon.
    • Matching 1 digit: Receive a Potion.
    • Matching 2 digits: Receive an Antidote.
    • Matching 3 digits: Receive an Everstone.
    • Matching 4 digits: Receive a Lucky Egg (rare and highly valuable for EXP gain).
    • Matching 5 digits: Receive a Master Ball (extremely rare and invaluable for catching legendary Pokémon).
To increase your chances, trade for Pokémon with a wide variety of Trainer ID numbers.

3. Battle Tent Challenges

  • Location: Verdanturf Town, Fallarbor Town, and Slateport City.
  • Action: Challenge each Battle Tent once per day for unique battle experiences and rewards.
  • Strategy:
    • Verdanturf Tent (Single Battle): Rent three Pokémon and battle three trainers. Focus on type coverage and balanced stats.
    • Fallarbor Tent (Double Battle): Rent two Pokémon and battle three trainers in double battles. Consider synergy between your rented Pokémon.
    • Slateport Tent (Multi Battle): Rent two Pokémon and battle three trainers in a multi-battle format (similar to the Battle Factory). Adapt your strategy based on the Pokémon you're offered.
Winning all three battles in a tent earns you a prize, often valuable items like Full Restore or Protein.

4. Mauville City Bicycle Shop

  • Location: Mauville City.
  • Action: Speak to Rydel in his shop.
  • Strategy: After obtaining both the Mach Bike and Acro Bike, you can switch between them at any time. While not a daily "event," it's a daily utility to remember for navigating different terrains (Mach Bike for speed, Acro Bike for tricks and specific ledges).

5. Sootopolis City Gym Puzzle Reset

  • Location: Sootopolis City Gym.
  • Action: If you fail the ice puzzle in the Sootopolis Gym, it resets daily.
  • Strategy: This is more of a convenience than an event. If you mess up the ice floor puzzle, you don't have to restart immediately; you can come back the next day for a fresh attempt.

Weekly Events

1. Abandoned Ship Item Respawns

  • Location: Abandoned Ship (Route 108).
  • Action: Certain items inside the Abandoned Ship respawn weekly.
  • Strategy: Revisit the ship to collect items like Dive Ball, Water Stone, and other hidden treasures. This is a good way to stock up on useful items without spending money.

2. Safari Zone Pokémon Rotation

  • Location: Safari Zone (Route 121).
  • Action: The Pokémon available in the Safari Zone change weekly, specifically in the expanded areas unlocked after obtaining the National Dex.
  • Strategy: Keep an eye on the news reports or simply visit the Safari Zone regularly to check for new or rare Pokémon. This is the only way to catch certain Pokémon like Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Psyduck, and Marill in Emerald.

3. Mirage Island Appearance

  • Location: Route 130.
  • Action: Mirage Island has a very small, daily chance of appearing. Its appearance is determined by a random number generated by the game, which must match the personality value of one of your Pokémon.
  • Strategy: The old man in Pacifidlog Town will tell you if Mirage Island is visible. To maximize your chances, have a diverse collection of Pokémon in your party and PC. The main draw of Mirage Island is the rare Liechi Berry trees.

4. Battle Frontier Challenges

  • Location: Battle Frontier.
  • Action: While the Battle Frontier itself isn't time-gated, the Battle Point (BP) rewards and progression through facilities can be seen as a weekly goal.
  • Strategy: Dedicate time each week to challenge facilities like the Battle Factory, Battle Arena, or Battle Pike to earn BP. BP can be exchanged for powerful TMs, vitamins, and other rare items at the Battle Frontier Exchange Service Corner. Aim for streaks and gold symbols to unlock the best rewards.
