Key Items & Essential Tools

These items are vital for progressing through the game, unlocking new areas, or providing invaluable utility.

  • Itemfinder: This indispensable Key Item allows you to detect hidden items on the ground.
    • Location: Route 11, in the building connecting Route 11 and Route 12.
    • Acquisition: Speak to Professor Oak's Aide (one of his assistants) on the second floor of the building. You must have caught at least 30 different Pokémon to receive it. regularly check areas you've already visited after obtaining this, as many hidden items become accessible!
  • Poké Flute: Wakes up sleeping Pokémon.
    • Location: Lavender Town, Pokémon Tower.
    • Acquisition: After defeating the Team Rocket Grunts and rescuing Mr. Fuji on the top floor of the Pokémon Tower, he will give you the Poké Flute as a reward. This is essential for waking the Snorlax blocking Route 12 and Route 16.
  • Bicycle: Significantly increases your travel speed.
    • Location: Cerulean City, Bike Shop.

  • Route 3:
    • Great Ball: Just before the entrance to Mt. Moon, search the small patch of grass to the right.
  • Mt. Moon:
    • Moon Stone: On the first floor, near the Team Rocket Grunt who mentions "rare fossils."
    • Rare Candy: On the second floor, in the area with multiple ladders, search near the rock formation.
  • Route 24 (Nugget Bridge):
    • Potion: At the very end of Nugget Bridge, before entering Route 25, search the tile directly to the right of the sign.
  • Route 25:
    • Ether: Near Bill's house, search the small patch of flowers to the left of the path.

Berry Locations

Berries are consumable items that can heal status conditions, restore HP, or boost stats in battle. They grow on specific patches of ground and can be picked once per day.
