Mission 18: The Counterpart
Mission 18, "The Counterpart," marks a pivotal moment in your journey through Hisui, as you delve deeper into the lore surrounding the legendary Pokémon and the ancient conflict. This mission will take you to a new, challenging area and introduce you to a powerful adversary. Successfully navigating this stage requires careful preparation, strategic combat, and a keen understanding of the story unfolding around you. Get ready for a significant boss battle.
Following the events of the previous mission, you'll be tasked with investigating a mysterious phenomenon related to the legendary Pokémon. This investigation will lead you to the Cobalt Coastlands, a region you've likely visited before, but this time you'll be exploring a specific, hidden area. The mission revolves around uncovering the truth about a legendary Pokémon that is said to be the counterpart to one you've already encountered. This involves piecing together clues and confronting the Pokémon responsible for the disturbances.
Starting the Mission:
After completing Mission 17, you'll receive instructions to head to the Cobalt Coastlands. Speak with Professor Laventon and Commander Kamado to get the full briefing. They will direct you to a specific location within the region where the disturbances are most prominent.
Navigating the Cobalt Coastlands:
- New Area: Seaside Hollows: Your objective will lead you to a previously inaccessible area within the Cobalt Coastlands, known as the Seaside Hollows. This area is characterized by its rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and strong currents.
- Exploration and Clues: As you explore the Seaside Hollows, you'll need to find clues that shed light on the nature of the legendary Pokémon and its role. This might involve interacting with specific environmental elements or finding research notes left behind.
- Wild Pokémon Encounters: Be prepared for encounters with strong wild Pokémon native to the Cobalt Coastlands. Ensure your team is well-prepared for battles.
The Counterpart Encounter:
The climax of this mission involves confronting the legendary Pokémon that is the "counterpart." This Pokémon is known for its immense power and unique abilities. The battle will be a significant challenge, testing your combat skills and strategic thinking.
Strategy for the Boss Battle:
- Identify the Counterpart: The mission will reveal that the counterpart is none other than Landorus. Landorus is a powerful Ground/Flying-type legendary Pokémon.
- Team Composition: Your team should be prepared to face a dual-type threat. Pokémon with strong Electric, Ice, and Water-type attacks will be highly effective against Landorus. Avoid Pokémon weak to Ground or Flying-type moves.
- Battle Mechanics: Landorus is a formidable opponent. It will utilize powerful attacks that can hit multiple Pokémon. Pay close attention to its attack patterns and try to exploit openings.
- Catching Landorus: After defeating Landorus in the story battle, you will have the opportunity to catch it. Weaken it considerably, ideally to red health, and then use your best Poké Balls (Ultra Balls, Gigaton Balls, or Primeape Balls). Status conditions like Paralysis or Sleep can greatly increase your catch rate.
- Agile vs. Strong Style: Experiment with Agile and Strong Style moves. Agile Style can help you dodge attacks and get more turns, while Strong Style can deal more damage to quickly weaken Landorus.
Completing Mission 18 not only progresses the main story but also grants you access to a powerful legendary Pokémon. The knowledge gained about the legendary titans will be crucial for future endeavors in Hisui.
