Diglett's Cave & Route 11

Following your victory over Lt. Surge in Vermilion City, a new path opens to the east, leading you towards Diglett's Cave and Route 11. This route is a significant area that serves as a crucial connection between different parts of Kanto. Upon entering Diglett's Cave, you will find yourself in a subterranean environment populated by numerous Diglett and their evolved form, Dugtrio. This cave is more than just a habitat for these Ground-type Pokémon; it functions as a convenient shortcut. By traversing Diglett's Cave from the east side, you can emerge on the west side, directly on Route 2, which is situated near Pewter City. This provides an excellent opportunity to catch a Diglett if you require a Ground-type Pokémon for your team, which can be particularly useful against Electric-type opponents. After exiting Diglett's Cave on the eastern end, you will find yourself on Route 11. This route is characterized by its open terrain and often features wild Pokémon encounters.
