While Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! simplify some of the intricate stat mechanics found in mainline Pokémon games, there are still avenues for optimizing your Pokémon's potential, particularly in the post-game. The concept of Natures, which was introduced in Generation III, plays a role here. Each Pokémon possesses a Nature that influences its stat growth; for example, a "Lonely" Nature increases Attack but decreases Defense, while a "Bold" Nature increases Defense but decreases Attack. While you cannot change a Pokémon's Nature through normal gameplay, the game offers a unique daily mechanic to address this. In Celadon City, a fortune teller can be consulted once per day to alter a Pokémon's Nature. This allows you to fine-tune your team's stat distribution to better suit your preferred playstyle or to optimize them for specific challenges. Beyond Natures, Individual Values (IVs) are hidden stats that determine a Pokémon's inherent potential. These values range from 0 to 31 for each stat and are determined when a Pokémon is encountered or hatched. While IVs are not as prominently displayed or as complex to manage as in some other Pokémon titles, they still contribute to a Pokémon's overall strength. After becoming the Champion, you gain access to a special NPC who can assess your Pokémon's IVs, providing insights into their potential. Furthermore, the game introduces mechanics that allow for the manipulation and enhancement of these IVs. By utilizing specific items or engaging in certain post-game activities, you can effectively raise your Pokémon's IVs to their maximum potential, ensuring they have the best possible base stats. This post-game optimization allows dedicated players to create truly formidable teams, pushing the boundaries of their Pokémon's capabilities and preparing them for the toughest challenges the Kanto region has to offer, including potential competitive play or challenging rematches.
