Route 3 & Mt. Moon
Embarking eastward from Pewter City, you'll find yourself on Route 3, a stretch of land teeming with both challenging trainers and several wild Pokémon. Keep an eye out for the adorable Jigglypuff and the feisty Mankey. Mankey, in particular, is a valuable addition to any team due to its inherent Fighting-type abilities. Its access to Fighting-type moves will prove exceptionally useful when confronting the Rock and Normal-type Pokémon that lie ahead on your journey. As you continue your eastward progression, the terrain will eventually give way to the entrance of Mt. Moon, a significant cave system that marks a crucial point in your adventure. Inside Mt. Moon, you will encounter a diverse range of Pokémon, including the ubiquitous Zubat, which can be a nuisance with its frequent appearances and reliance on confusing attacks. Additionally, you'll find Rock-type Pokémon like Geodude, which can be tough to take down without the right type advantage. The cave itself presents a maze-like structure with multiple paths and ledges, requiring careful navigation. Be prepared for several trainer battles within the confines of Mt. Moon, as many aspiring Pokémon trainers use this area to hone their skills. These trainers often possess Pokémon that will test your current team's strengths and weaknesses, so ensure your Pokémon are healed and ready for combat. Within Mt. Moon, you will also discover valuable items, including evolutionary stones and TMs, which can significantly bolster your team's capabilities. The cave is also home to the rare Clefairy, which can be found in the deeper sections. The objective within Mt. Moon is to reach the other side, which will lead you to Cerulean City. Along the way, you may encounter NPCs who offer helpful advice or trade Pokémon. Remember to use your Poké Balls effectively and consider the type matchups when engaging wild Pokémon and trainers alike. The journey through Mt. Moon is a significant step in your quest to become a Pokémon Master.
