Many of these Pokémon are integral to the story, while others require specific conditions or post-game exploration to encounter.
Story-Related Legendary Pokémon
These Legendary Pokémon will join your adventure as part of the main storyline. While their capture is guaranteed, understanding their strengths and weaknesses can still be beneficial.
- Groudon/Kyogre: Encountered during the main story on the Sea of Drenching/Sea of Flames. Use strong Water-type moves against Groudon and Grass-type moves against Kyogre.
- Rayquaza: Appears during the Delta Episode. Its capture is part of the story progression.
- Latias/Latios: You will receive one of these Eon Pokémon early in the game. They are crucial for traversing the skies using Soaring.
Post-Game Legendary Pokémon
The majority of Legendary Pokémon become available after you have become the Champion and completed the Delta Episode. Many of these require the use of the Eon Ticket or specific in-game events.
- Regirock, Regice, Registeel: Found in the Sealed Chamber on Route 134. You'll need to solve a puzzle involving specific Pokémon in your party and use the move "Strength." Their capture requires patience and a good supply of Ultra Balls.
- Latios/Latias (the other one): After completing the Delta Episode, you can encounter the other Eon Pokémon by using the Eon Ticket. They appear on Southern Island.
- Reshiram/Zekrom: These Tao Trio Pokémon can be encountered in the Floccesy Ranch area after obtaining the Eon Ticket and completing certain conditions.
- Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion: These Swords of Justice can be found in various locations across Hoenn after meeting specific criteria, often involving other Legendary Pokémon.
- Tornadus/Thundurus: These weather trio members are found in specific weather conditions on routes like Route 113 and Route 120.
- Landorus: Can be obtained by having both Tornadus and Thundurus in your party and visiting a specific location.
- Dialga/Palkia: These Sinnoh legendaries can be found in the Sky Pillar after meeting certain conditions.
- Giratina: Accessible through the Distortion World, often linked to the appearance of Dialga and Palkia.
- Heatran: Found in the Fiery Path after specific story events.

Capture Strategies
When facing Legendary Pokémon, it's crucial to be prepared. Always bring a Pokémon with the move False Swipe to bring their HP down to 1 without knocking them out. Status conditions like Sleep or Paralysis sificantly increase your catch rate. Stock up on Ultra Balls, Timer Balls (for longer battles), and Great Balls. Save your game before initiating the encounter, and don't be afraid to reset if you accidentally knock out a Legendary or fail to catch it.
