Chapter 1: The Journey Begins - Littleroot Town to Rustboro City
Littleroot Town: A New Beginning
- Arrival and Introduction: Your adventure begins as you move into your new home in Littleroot Town. After a brief introduction by your mother, head upstairs to set your clock.
- Meeting Professor Birch: Go downstairs and speak with your mother again. She'll suggest you meet Professor Birch. Head north out of your house and then west to find the Professor's lab.
- First Encounter: Upon entering the lab, you'll find May/Brendan (your rival) who will direct you to Route 101. Follow them.
- Choosing Your First Pokémon: On Route 101, you'll witness Professor Birch being chased by a wild Poochyena. He'll ask you to grab a Poké Ball from his bag.
- Treecko: A Grass-type, excellent for early-game challenges against Water and Rock types.
- Torchic: A Fire-type, strong against Grass and Bug types, but weak to Water and Ground.
- Mudkip: A Water-type, a solid choice with good defensive typing and strong against Fire and Ground.
- First Battle: Immediately after choosing, you'll engage in a battle against the wild Poochyena. Use your chosen Pokémon's attacking move to defeat it.
- Return to the Lab: Head back to Professor Birch's lab. He'll officially give you your chosen Pokémon and a Pokédex.
- Meeting Your Rival (Again): Step outside the lab and your rival will challenge you to your first Trainer battle!
- Rival's Pokémon: Your rival will use the starter Pokémon that has a type advantage against yours (e.g., if you chose Treecko, they'll have Torchic).
- Strategy: Use your starter's attacking move. If your Pokémon is low on HP, remember you have a Potion in your bag.
- Mom's Gift: After the battle, head home and speak with your mother. She'll give you a pair of Running Shoes, allowing you to move faster by holding 'B'.

- Reward: Upon victory, you'll receive the Stone Badge (allowing you to use HM01 Cut outside of battle) and TM39 Rock Tomb.
