Your adventure begins in Littleroot Town, a small, peaceful community. After moving into your new home and setting the clock, your mother will encourage you to meet Professor Birch. Head north out of town onto Route 101. You'll quickly encounter Professor Birch being chased by a wild Poochyena (Omega Ruby) or Zigzagoon (Alpha Sapphire). He'll ask for your help, prompting you to choose your first partner Pokémon from his bag: Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip. After rescuing him, he'll officially give you the Pokémon. Return to his lab for a Pokedex and some Poké Balls. Your next destination is Oldale Town, then Route 103 for your first rival battle, and finally Petalburg City to meet your father, Norman, at the Gym.
