The Trick House
The Trick House is a unique and engaging side quest located on Route 110, between Mauville City and Slateport City. It's home to the enigmatic Trick Master, who challenges trainers with a series of puzzles and mazes. Each time you complete a challenge, you'll be rewarded with a valuable item and a new challenge will become available after you've progressed further in the main story. There are a total of eight challenges, each increasing in complexity.
General Strategy for the Trick House
Before entering, ensure your Pokémon are healed. While battles within the Trick House are generally against Trainers with relatively low-level Pokémon, it's always good to be prepared. The main goal of each challenge is to find a hidden scroll containing a secret message from the Trick Master, which will then open the door to his inner sanctum where he awaits to reward you.
- Examine everything: The scroll can be hidden in various objects like bookshelves, plants, or even behind posters. Interact with anything that looks out of place or has a distinct sparkle.
- Trainer Battles: Most challenges will involve navigating around or battling Trainers. Defeating them can sometimes clear paths or provide clues.
- HM Usage: Later challenges may require specific HMs like Cut or Strength to access new areas or solve puzzles. Make sure you have Pokémon in your party capable of using these.

Challenge 1: The Hidden Scroll
This is your introduction to the Trick House. The Trick Master will greet you and explain the rules. The first scroll is usually very easy to find.
- Location: The scroll is hidden behind the large plant in the main room, to the right of the entrance.

- Availability: After defeating Wattson in Mauville City.
Challenge 2: The Cut Maze
This challenge requires a Pokémon that knows the HM Cut.
- Location: The scroll is hidden behind a bookshelf in the top-right corner of the maze. You'll need to cut down several trees to reach it.
- Trainers: Be prepared for a few Trainer battles as you navigate the cuttable trees.
- Reward: Timer Ball
- Availability: After obtaining the Dynamo Badge and being able to use Cut outside of battle.
Challenge 3: The Floor Switch Puzzle
This puzzle involves stepping on floor switches to open and close doors. Pay attention to the patterns.
- Location: The scroll is often found in a corner of the room, accessible after activating the correct sequence of switches.
- Strategy: Experiment with stepping on and off switches. Sometimes you need to leave a switch activated, other times you need to step off it.
- Reward: Hard Stone
- Availability: After obtaining the Heat Badge.
Challenge 4: The Strength Puzzle
You'll need a Pokémon with the HM Strength for this one, as you'll be pushing boulders.
- Location: The scroll is typically hidden behind one of the boulders you need to push, or in an area revealed by moving them.
- Strategy: Plan your boulder pushes carefully. If you get stuck, simply exit and re-enter the room to reset the puzzle.
- Reward: Smoke Ball
- Availability: After obtaining the Balance Badge.
Challenge 5: The Teleport Maze
This challenge introduces warp panels that transport you to different parts of the room. It can be disorienting!
- Location: The scroll is usually in a secluded area only reachable by taking the correct sequence of warp panels.
- Strategy: Draw a simple map if you're having trouble, or systematically try each warp panel until you find the correct path.
- Reward: Magnet
- Availability: After obtaining the Feather Badge.
Challenge 6: The Rotating Doors
This puzzle features rotating doors that change direction when you interact with them. Timing and observation are key.
- Location: The scroll is often past a series of rotating doors that need to be aligned correctly.
- Strategy: Observe the rotation patterns and try to anticipate which way the door will open. Sometimes you need to pass through quickly.
- Reward: Nugget
- Availability: After obtaining the Mind Badge.
Challenge 7: The Ice Slide Puzzle
This challenge involves sliding across icy floors, only stopping when you hit an obstacle. This requires precise movement.
- Location: The scroll is usually in an area that requires a specific sequence of slides to reach.
- Strategy: Think a few steps ahead. Each move will take you to the next obstacle. If you get stuck, reset by leaving the room.
- Reward: PP Max
- Availability: After obtaining the Rain Badge.
Challenge 8: The Final Maze
The last challenge combines elements from previous puzzles, making it the most complex. Expect a mix of switches, rotating doors, and possibly even some boulder pushing.
- Location: The scroll is well-hidden, often requiring you to solve multiple mini-puzzles within the larger maze.
- Strategy: Take your time and be methodical. Don't rush, and remember to look for subtle clues.
- Reward: Red Tent (Omega Ruby) / Blue Tent (Alpha Sapphire) and the Silver Shield (a decoration for your Secret Base).
