For competitive play, breeding is the most reliable way to obtain Pokémon with optimal IVs, Natures, and Egg Moves. The Day Care on Route 117 is where you can leave two compatible Pokémon to produce Eggs. To pass down IVs, give one parent a Destiny Knot (found in the Sea Mauville). This item ensures that 5 of the 6 IVs from both parents are passed down to the offspring. To pass down a specific Nature, give one parent an Everstone (found in Granite Cave or held by wild Geodude/Roggenrola). Egg Moves are special moves a Pokémon can learn only through breeding with a parent that already knows that move. Understanding these mechanics allows you to systematically breed for 'perfect' 5 or 6 IV Pokémon with ideal Natures and move sets, forming the foundation of a strong competitive team.
