How to Beat Elite Four & Champion Cynthia

Defeat Elite Four Aaron, Bertha, Flint, Lucian, and Champion Cynthia in Pokémon Platinum. Utilize Fire and Flying types against Aaron's Bug Pokémon.

Elite Four Aaron (Bug Type)

  • Team: Yanmega (Lvl 53), Heracross (Lvl 54), Vespiquen (Lvl 53), Scizor (Lvl 55), Drapion (Lvl 57, Bug/Poison).
  • Strategy: Fire and Flying types are excellent. Drapion is Poison/Dark, so Ground is super effective. Scizor is Bug/Steel, so a strong Fire move will one-shot it.

Elite Four Bertha (Ground Type)

  • Team: Whiscash (Lvl 55), Gliscor (Lvl 57), Hippowdon (Lvl 59), Golem (Lvl 56), Rhyperior (Lvl 58).
  • Strategy: Water and Grass types are key. Gliscor is Ground/Flying, so Ice is 4x effective. Whiscash is Ground/Water, so Grass is 4x effective.

Elite Four Flint (Fire Type)

  • Team: Rapidash (Lvl 57), Infernape (Lvl 59), Magmortar (Lvl 61), Flareon (Lvl 57), Houndoom (Lvl 57).
  • Strategy: Water, Ground, and Rock types are strong. Infernape is Fire/Fighting, so Flying, Psychic, and Ground are good.

Elite Four Lucian (Psychic Type)

  • Team: Mr. Mime (Lvl 59), Alakazam (Lvl 60), Bronzong (Lvl 63), Medicham (Lvl 59), Gallade (Lvl 59).
  • Strategy: Bug, Ghost, and Dark types are effective. Bronzong is Psychic/Steel, so Fire and Ground are good. Medicham and Gallade are Psychic/Fighting, so Flying and Ghost are strong.

Champion Cynthia (Diverse Team)

  • Team: Spiritomb (Lvl 61, Dark/Ghost), Roserade (Lvl 60, Grass/Poison), Togekiss (Lvl 60, Normal/Flying), Lucario (Lvl 63, Fighting/Steel), Milotic (Lvl 63, Water), Garchomp (Lvl 66, Dragon/Ground).
  • Strategy: Cynthia's team is incredibly balanced and powerful.
    • Spiritomb: No weaknesses in Gen 4. Use strong neutral attacks.
    • Roserade: Fire, Flying, Ice, Psychic.
    • Togekiss: Electric, Ice, Rock.
    • Lucario: Fire, Fighting, Ground.
    • Milotic: Electric, Grass.
    • Garchomp: Dragon, Ice (4x effective). This is her ace; a strong Ice-type move is crucial.
