Trainer Card & Badges
Your Trainer Card in Pokémon Platinum is more than just an ID; it's a dynamic record of your journey through the Sinnoh region. It tracks your progress, showcases your achievements, and even allows for some personalization. Understanding its features and how to maximize its potential is key to becoming a top-tier Pokémon Trainer!
Accessing Your Trainer Card
To view your Trainer Card at any time, simply open your menu by pressing the X button. Navigate to the bottom-left corner of the menu screen and select the icon that resembles a small card with your Trainer's sprite on it. Press A to open it.
Trainer Card Sections
Your Trainer Card is divided into several key sections, each providing valuable information:
- Front Side: This is the default view. It displays your Trainer's name, ID number, the amount of money you currently possess, your current number of Pokémon caught (out of the Sinnoh Pokédex), your play time, and the date you started your adventure.
- Back Side (Badges): Pressing the Y button while viewing the front side will flip your Trainer Card over, revealing your collection of Gym Badges. This is a crucial section for tracking your progress towards the Pokémon League.
- Back Side (Records): After obtaining all eight Gym Badges, pressing Y again will cycle to a third page on the back of your card. This page displays additional records, such as your Battle Tower win streak, your highest score in the Super Contest, and other notable achievements.
Trainer Card Colors & Stars
Your Trainer Card isn't static; it evolves with your accomplishments! The color of your Trainer Card and the number of stars displayed on it signify your mastery of the game. There are five possible colors and five stars to earn:
Trainer Card Colors:
- Blue: Your starting Trainer Card color.
- Green: Achieved after defeating the Elite Four and becoming the Sinnoh Champion.
- Bronze: Awarded after completing the National Pokédex (catching all 493 Pokémon).
- Silver: Earned by achieving a 100-win streak in the Battle Tower's Single Battle mode.
- Gold: The ultimate Trainer Card color, obtained by completing all of the above achievements.
Earning Stars:
Each star on your Trainer Card represents a significant milestone. You can earn up to five stars:
- Defeat the Elite Four: The first star is earned upon becoming the Sinnoh Champion.

- Win the Master Rank in all Super Contests: Conquer all five categories (Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, Tough) in the Master Rank of the Super Contest in Hearthome City for your third star.
- Achieve a 100-win streak in the Battle Tower: This challenging feat in the Battle Frontier will earn you the fourth star.
- Complete the National Pokédex: Catching all 493 Pokémon (including event-exclusive Pokémon obtained through legitimate means) will award you the fifth and final star.
