Amity Square
Amity Square, located in Hearthome City, is a charming park where you can walk with certain "cute" Pokémon outside of their Poké Balls. This feature is not just for aesthetics; it offers several benefits, including finding valuable items and increasing your Pokémon's happiness!
Eligibility and Entry
To enter Amity Square, you must have one of the following Pokémon in your active party. Only one Pokémon can walk with you at a time:
- Pikachu
- Clefairy
- Jigglypuff
- Psyduck
- Torchic
- Shroomish
- Skitty
- Pachirisu
- Buneary
- Happiny
- Chatot
- Munchlax
- Weavile
- Lucario
If you attempt to enter with an ineligible Pokémon, the attendant at the gate will politely inform you that only "cute" Pokémon are allowed. Simply switch one of the listed Pokémon into your lead slot and try again.
Exploring Amity Square & Finding Items
Once inside, your chosen Pokémon will follow you. As you walk around, pay close attention to your Pokémon's behavior. It may occasionally stop and look at the ground, indicating it has found an item. To pick up the item, simply approach your Pokémon and interact with it. The items found are typically Berries, but you can also discover more valuable treasures.
Here's a breakdown of notable items and their locations:
- Amulet Coin: This incredibly useful item doubles the prize money you receive from battles when held by the Pokémon participating in the battle. You can find it near the large rock formation in the northern part of the square, close to the waterfall. This is a one-time pickup.
- TM43 (Secret Power): Head to the eastern side of the square, past the small pond. The TM is located in a secluded corner, often obscured by trees. This is also a one-time pickup.
- Berries: Various Berries can be found scattered throughout the square. Common finds include Oran Berry, Pecha Berry, Cheri Berry, and Chesto Berry. These respawn daily, so make it a habit to check back!
- Poffin Ingredients: Occasionally, your Pokémon might dig up ingredients for Poffins, such as Honey or various types of Apricorns.
Strategy for Item Farming:
- Enter Amity Square with an eligible Pokémon.
- Walk slowly and methodically through all areas of the park.
- Keep an eye on your Pokémon. If it stops and "looks" at something, interact with it immediately to pick up the item.
- After collecting all visible items, exit and re-enter the square. Some items, particularly Berries, will respawn. This can be done daily for continuous Berry collection.
Increasing Happiness
Walking with your Pokémon in Amity Square is an excellent way to increase its happiness (also known as friendship). The more steps you take with your Pokémon following you, the more its happiness stat will grow. This is crucial for Pokémon that evolve via happiness, such as Golbat into Crobat, Chansey into Blissey, or Budew into Roselia (during the day).
Additionally, interacting with your Pokémon (by pressing 'A' when facing it) will also slightly boost its happiness. Your Pokémon might also react differently based on its current happiness level and personality.
Poffin House
While not directly inside Amity Square, the Poffin House is located just outside its entrance in Hearthome City. After collecting Poffin ingredients from Amity Square, you can enter the Poffin House and participate in Poffin-making with the old woman there. Poffins are essential for boosting your Pokémon's Contest stats (Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, Tough).
visit Amity Square regularly to gather ingredients and reap the benefits for your Pokémon's happiness and Contest performance!
