Mission 6: The Legendary Pokémon
Welcome, Ranger! Mission 6 is a pivotal point in your adventure, as you'll finally encounter a legendary Pokémon. This mission requires careful preparation and strategic thinking. Follow this guide closely to ensure a successful capture!
Part 1: Journey to the Fiore Temple
Your mission begins with a direct order to investigate strange occurrences near the Fiore Temple. Head there immediately from Ringtown.
- From Ringtown: Travel north through the Krokka Tunnel.
- Krokka Tunnel Navigation:
- Be prepared for encounters with Pokémon like Zubat and Geodude. These can be useful for their Field Moves later.
- You'll encounter a large rock blocking your path. Use a Pokémon with the Smash Field Move (Level 2) to clear it. A Machop or Graveler will do the trick if you don't have one already.
- Exiting Krokka Tunnel: Once through, you'll find yourself on the path to the Fiore Temple.
Part 2: Ascending the Temple Grounds
The path to the temple is guarded by various Pokémon and environmental puzzles. Keep your Styler charged and your wits about you!
- Encountering Wild Pokémon:
- You'll frequently encounter Stantler, Doduo, and Pidgeotto on the temple grounds. Stantler's Tackle Field Move can be useful for clearing small obstacles.
- Look out for Pinsir. Its Cut Field Move (Level 2) might be needed for some thorny bushes later on, so consider capturing one if you have the space.
- The Thorny Bush Obstacle:
- Eventually, you'll come across a large thorny bush blocking the main path.
- You'll need a Pokémon with the Cut Field Move (Level 2) to clear it. If you didn't capture a Pinsir earlier, a Scyther can also be found in this area.
- Once cleared, proceed deeper into the temple grounds.
Part 3: The Legendary Encounter - Raikou
You've reached the heart of the temple, where the legendary beast, Raikou, awaits. This will be a challenging capture, so ensure your Styler is fully charged and you have a good selection of Partner Pokémon.
- Preparation is Key:
- Before initiating the capture, ensure your Styler's energy is at maximum.
- Consider having at least one Pokémon with a Water Assist (e.g., Vaporeon, Wartortle) or a Ground Assist (e.g., Donphan, Sandslash) in your party. These will be invaluable against Raikou's Electric-type attacks.
- A Pokémon with a Fighting Assist (e.g., Machoke) can also help reduce the number of loops required.
- Raikou's Attack Pattern:
- Raikou is incredibly fast and will frequently use its Electric-type attacks.
- Its primary attack involves charging across the screen, leaving a trail of electricity. Avoid this at all costs, as it will damage your Styler and break your capture line.
- It also has a powerful electric shockwave attack that radiates outwards. Try to loop it quickly after it performs this, as there's a brief opening.
- Capture Strategy:
- Patience: Do not rush your loops. Wait for clear openings.
- Small Loops: Focus on making several small, tight loops rather than one large, risky one. This minimizes the chance of Raikou breaking your line.
- Utilize Assists:
- When Raikou is about to unleash a powerful attack, use a Water Assist or Ground Assist to stun it or reduce the damage. This creates a crucial window for you to draw loops.
- A Fighting Assist can significantly lower the number of loops needed, so deploy it strategically when you have a good line going.
- Dodge and Weave: Constantly move your Styler to avoid Raikou's charges and shockwaves.
- Successful Capture: Once you've completed the required number of loops, Raikou will be captured! Congratulations, Ranger! This is a major achievement.
Part 4: Mission Debriefing
After capturing Raikou, the mission isn't quite over. You'll need to report back to Professor Hastings.
- Return to Ringtown: Make your way back through the Fiore Temple grounds and Krokka Tunnel to Ringtown.
- Report to Professor Hastings: Head to the Ranger Base in Ringtown and speak with Professor Hastings to complete Mission 6.
You've proven yourself a formidable Ranger by capturing a legendary Pokémon! Prepare for even greater challenges ahead.
