After defeating Flannery, you'll receive the Go-Goggles from your rival, allowing you to cross the desert on Route 111. Head back to Petalburg City, where your father, Norman, awaits as the fifth Gym Leader. Norman specializes in Normal-type Pokémon. Normal types are only weak to Fighting, but they are resistant to nothing and Ghost-type moves have no effect. Before challenging Norman, ensure your Pokémon are around Level 28-32. A strong Fighting-type Pokémon is highly recommended. Defeating Norman earns you the Balance Badge, allowing you to use HM03 Surf outside of battle, and TM42 Facade.
