Tate and Liza use four Pokémon in a Double Battle:
- Solrock (Level 42): Rock/Psychic type. Weak to Water, Grass, Bug, Ghost, Dark, Steel, Ground. (Ruby only)
- Lunatone (Level 42): Rock/Psychic type. Weak to Water, Grass, Bug, Ghost, Dark, Steel, Ground. (Sapphire only)
- Claydol (Level 41): Ground/Psychic type. Weak to Water, Grass, Ice, Bug, Ghost, Dark.
- Xatu (Level 41): Psychic/Flying type. Weak to Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, Dark.
Strategy: This is a Double Battle, so strategy is key. Focus fire on one Pokémon at a time. Dark and Ghost-type Pokémon are excellent choices. Absol (Route 120) or Sableye (Cave of Origin) can be very useful. Water and Grass-type moves are also effective against Solrock/Lunatone and Claydol. Be wary of their combined attacks. Solrock/Lunatone can use Light Screen/Reflect to boost defenses. Claydol can use Earthquake, which hits both your Pokémon, so consider a Flying-type or a Pokémon with Levitate. Use status conditions like Paralysis or Sleep to control the battle. Potions and Full Restores are highly recommended.
