Island Challenge Guide

The Island Challenge is the core progression system in Pokémon Sun and Moon, replacing traditional Gyms. Instead of battling Gym Leaders, you'll face Trial Captains and their unique Trials, culminating in a battle against a powerful Totem Pokémon. Successfully completing these Trials earns you Z-Crystals, essential for unleashing powerful Z-Moves.

  1. Melemele Island: Your journey begins with the Island Challenge on Melemele Island. Your first Trial will likely be at Verdant Cavern, where you'll face Ilima and his Trial involving finding specific Pokémon. The Totem Pokémon here is Gumshoos (Sun) or Raticate (Moon).
  2. Akala Island: This island features multiple Trials. Kiawe's Trial at Wela Volcano Park focuses on observation and memory. Lana's Trial at Brooklet Hill involves a fishing challenge.
