Money Making Guide

Welcome, aspiring Champion! Money, or Pokédollars, is essential for your journey through the Galar region. From purchasing Poké Balls and healing items to stylish clothing and powerful TMs, a healthy bank account makes all the difference. This comprehensive guide will equip you with the best strategies to amass a fortune, ensuring you're never short on cash.

Early Game Riches: Setting the Foundation

Even in the early stages of your adventure, you can start building your wealth. Focus on these methods to get a head start:

  • Trainer Battles: This is your bread and butter. Every trainer you defeat rewards you with Pokédollars. Don't shy away from optional trainers!
  • Selling Unused Items: Check your bag regularly. Items like Tiny Mushrooms, Big Mushrooms, Stardust, and Star Pieces have no in-game use other than being sold for profit. You'll often find these as sparkling spots on the ground or as drops from wild Pokémon.
  • Wishing Pieces: These items, found in the Wild Area, can be sold for a decent sum. While they're primarily used to summon Dynamax Pokémon to Wishing Spots, if you're not actively raiding, selling a few can boost your funds.

Mid-Game Magnates: Scaling Your Income

As you progress, more lucrative opportunities open up. Leverage these strategies to significantly increase your Pokédollar flow:

The Lucky Amulet & Amulet Coin

These invaluable held items double the money earned from trainer battles when held by the Pokémon participating in the fight. Obtaining them should be a priority:

  • Amulet Coin: This can be found in Hulbury. Head to the lighthouse and speak to the chef inside the restaurant. He will give you the Amulet Coin if you've defeated the Hulbury Gym Leader, Nessa.
  • Lucky Amulet: While the Amulet Coin is more readily available, the Lucky Amulet serves the same purpose. It's often a rare drop from certain wild Pokémon or found in specific locations later in the game.

Equip one of these to your lead Pokémon (or any Pokémon you plan to use in battle) before engaging in trainer fights to maximize your earnings.

Watt Farming & Item Exchange

Watts are a unique currency in the Wild Area, but they can be indirectly converted into Pokédollars. This method is excellent for both early and late game:

  1. Gather Watts:
    • Raid Dens: Interact with active Pokémon Dens (glowing red beams) in the Wild Area. Each interaction grants you Watts.
    • Empty Dens: Even inactive dens (glowing red but no beam) give you Watts when you interact with them.
    • Rotom Rally: Participate in the Rotom Rally by speaking to the Watt Traders. Completing these races, especially with good times, rewards you with a substantial amount of Watts.
  2. Purchase Luxury Balls: Once you have a good amount of Watts, find any Watt Trader in the Wild Area. They sell Luxury Balls for 100 Watts each.
  3. Sell Luxury Balls: Take your newly acquired Luxury Balls to any Poké Mart and sell them. Each Luxury Ball sells for 1,500 Pokédollars. This creates a highly efficient Watt-to-Pokédollar conversion.

Digging Duo's Treasure Trove

The Digging Duo, located near the nursery in the Wild Area, can unearth valuable items for you in exchange for Watts. While it's a bit more RNG-dependent, they can dig up rare items that sell for a lot:

  • Pay the Digging Duo 500 Watts per dig.
  • They can find items like Rare Bones, Stardust, Star Pieces, and even Big Nuggets.
  • Big Nuggets are particularly lucrative, selling for 20,000 Pokédollars each!
  • Focus on the brother who specializes in finding "rare items" for the best chance at high-value goods.

Late Game & Post-Game Profit: The Ultimate Grind

Once you've become the Champion, the money-making potential truly skyrockets. These methods are designed for maximum efficiency:

The Champion's Cup Rematch

After completing the main story, you can re-challenge the Champion's Cup. This is arguably the most consistent and profitable method for earning Pokédollars:

  • Tournament Structure: You'll face three trainers in a row, culminating in a battle against a powerful opponent (often a Gym Leader or rival).
  • High Payouts: Each battle in the Champion's Cup offers significantly higher rewards than standard trainer battles.
  • Amulet Coin/Lucky Amulet: Crucially, ensure your lead Pokémon is holding an Amulet Coin or Lucky Amulet to double these already impressive payouts.
  • Repeatability: You can challenge the Champion's Cup as many times as you like, making it an endless source of income.

Max Raid Battle Rewards

While the primary reward for Max Raid Battles is Exp. Candies and TRs, you also receive valuable items that can be sold:

  • Dynamax Candies: While useful for leveling, if you have an abundance, they can be sold for a decent price.
  • TRs (Technical Records): Many TRs are valuable for competitive play, but if you have duplicates or TRs you don't intend to use, they can be sold.
  • Wishing Pieces: As mentioned earlier, these can be sold if you're not actively using them for raids.

Selling Treasures from the Wild Area

Continue to explore the Wild Area for sparkling spots. After you've completed the game, the quality of items found often improves, leading to more frequent discoveries of Big Nuggets, Star Pieces, and other high-value items.

By combining these strategies, you'll quickly find your wallet overflowing, allowing you to purchase anything your heart desires in the Galar region!
