Card List & Database
Welcome to the definitive guide for navigating the vast collection of cards available in Pokémon TCG Live! This section will empower you to efficiently browse, search, and understand every card in the game, whether you're a seasoned collector or a new player looking to build your first competitive deck.
Accessing the Card Database
The Card List & Database is your central hub for all card-related information. Follow these simple steps to access it:
- From the main menu, select the "Collection" tab.
- Within the Collection screen, you will see several sub-options. Choose "Cards" to enter the primary card database.
Alternatively, you can quickly access a filtered view of cards while building a deck:
- Navigate to the "Decks" tab from the main menu.
- Select an existing deck or choose "Create New Deck."
- Once in the Deck Editor, click the "Add Cards" button. This will open a filtered view of your available cards, which you can then expand to the full database.
Navigating the Database Interface
The Card List & Database offers powerful tools to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Familiarize yourself with these key features:
Search Bar & Filters
At the top of the database screen, you'll find the robust search and filter options. These are crucial for narrowing down your results:
- Search Bar: Type in any part of a card's name, ability, attack, or even flavor text to quickly find relevant cards. For example, typing "Pikachu" will show all Pikachu cards, while "Quick Ball" will bring up the popular Trainer card.
- Type Filter: Located to the left of the search bar, this allows you to filter by Pokémon Type (e.g., Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic, Fighting, Darkness, Metal, Dragon, Colorless), Trainer (Item, Supporter, Stadium), or Energy (Basic, Special).
- Set Filter: To the right of the search bar, this dropdown menu lets you select specific expansions (e.g., "Scarlet & Violet," "Paldea Evolved," "Crown Zenith"). This is invaluable for understanding set rotations or completing collections.
- Rarity Filter: Filter cards by their rarity symbol (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Holo Rare, Reverse Holo, Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, etc.). This helps in identifying valuable cards or completing rarity collections.
- Energy Cost Filter: For Pokémon, you can filter by the number and type of Energy required for attacks.
- HP Filter: For Pokémon, filter by their Hit Points (HP) value.
- Weakness/Resistance Filter: For Pokémon, filter by their Weakness or Resistance types.
- Ability/Attack Keyword Filter: Search for specific keywords in abilities or attacks, such as "VSTAR Power," "VMAX," "Rule Box," "Draw," "Discard," etc.
- Owned/Unowned Filter: Toggle between showing only cards you own, only cards you don't own, or all cards. This is incredibly useful for tracking your collection progress.
- Tradeable Filter: (If applicable in future updates) This filter would allow you to see which cards are eligible for trading.
Card Details View
Clicking on any card in the database will bring up its detailed information panel. This view provides comprehensive insights into the card:
- Full Card Art: A high-resolution image of the card.
- Card Text: Complete text for abilities, attacks, rules, and flavor text.
- Set Information: Displays the card's set symbol, collector number, and rarity.
- Artist: The name of the card's illustrator.
- Legality: Indicates which formats the card is legal in (e.g., Standard, Expanded).
- Owned Copies: Shows how many copies of that specific card (including different rarities/artworks) you currently possess.
- Crafting Cost: For cards you don't own, this displays the amount of "Credits" required to craft it.
- Related Cards: For Basic Pokémon, this might show its evolutions. For Trainer cards, it might show related cards from the same archetype.
Strategies for Using the Database
Completing Your Collection
The "Owned/Unowned" filter is your best friend here. Set the filter to "Unowned" and select a specific set. You can then systematically go through and identify which cards you still need. Prioritize crafting or acquiring Ultra Rares and Secret Rares first, as they often have higher crafting costs or are harder to obtain from packs.
Deck Building Research
When brainstorming a new deck, use the database to find synergistic cards:
- Search by Type: If you want to build a Fire-type deck, filter by "Fire" Pokémon and then explore their attacks and abilities.
- Search by Keyword: Looking for cards that discard Energy? Type "discard energy" into the search bar. Need a Supporter that draws cards? Search "draw cards."
- Filter by Legality: Always ensure you're filtering by the correct format (Standard or Expanded) to avoid building an illegal deck.
Understanding Card Rulings
If you encounter a confusing card effect during a match, you can quickly look it up in the database. The detailed card text is always accurate and can help clarify interactions or specific wording. This is especially useful for complex abilities or Trainer cards with unique effects.
Tracking New Releases
Keep an eye on the "Set Filter" for newly released expansions. As new sets drop, you can immediately browse all the new cards, identify potential meta-changers, and plan your pack openings or crafting priorities.
Mastering the Card List & Database is fundamental to your success and enjoyment in Pokémon TCG Live. Take the time to explore its features, and you'll find yourself a more informed and strategic player!
