Post-Game: Kiloude City & Battle Chateau
Congratulations, Champion! Your journey through Kalos isn't over yet. The post-game opens up a wealth of new challenges, rare Pokémon, and exciting opportunities. Your first destination after the credits roll should be Kiloude City, accessible via the Couriway Town train station.
Kiloude City: Your Post-Game Hub
Upon arriving in Kiloude City, you'll find a bustling hub with several key features:
- Friend Safari: Located in the northern part of the city, the Friend Safari is a unique area where you can catch Pokémon based on your 3DS friends' Friend Codes. Each friend grants access to a specific type of Safari with two or three Pokémon. The third Pokémon slot unlocks after your friend has beaten the Elite Four. This is an excellent way to find Pokémon with hidden abilities and good IVs!
- Battle Maison: In the southwestern corner of the city, the Battle Maison offers a variety of challenging battle formats (Single, Double, Triple, Rotation, and Multi Battles) against increasingly tough trainers. Earning Battle Points (BP) here allows you to purchase valuable items like Ability Capsules, rare Berries, and battle-enhancing items.
- Move Tutor: A Move Tutor can be found in a house near the Battle Maison. For a small fee (Heart Scales), they can teach your Pokémon moves they've forgotten or moves they learn at higher levels.
- TM Shop: A shop in the city sells several useful TMs, including some that are difficult to obtain elsewhere. check their stock!
- Fishing: You can fish in the waters around Kiloude City to encounter various Water-type Pokémon.
The Battle Chateau: A Noble Challenge
After your initial visit to Kiloude City, head back to Route 21. Here, you'll discover the opulent Battle Chateau. This unique facility allows you to battle various trainers, including Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and even the Champion, on a rotating basis. The more battles you win, the higher your "rank" becomes, attracting stronger opponents and offering better rewards.
How the Battle Chateau Works:
- Initial Visit: Upon entering, you'll be granted the lowest rank, "Baron" or "Baroness."
- Battling: Speak to the various trainers wandering the halls to initiate battles. They will challenge you with teams that scale in strength with your rank.
- Rank Progression: Winning battles earns you money and experience. As you accumulate wins, you'll receive invitations to advance your rank. Higher ranks attract more prestigious trainers and offer increased prize money. The ranks are:
- Baron/Baroness
- Viscount/Viscountess
- Earl/Countess
- Marquis/Marchioness
- Duke/Duchess
- Grand Duke/Grand Duchess (requires defeating the Champion)
- Special Invitations: Occasionally, you'll receive special invitations via the in-game message system (PSS) that announce the arrival of Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, or even the Champion. These battles are more challenging but offer significant rewards.
- Writs: You can purchase special "Writs" from the attendant at the entrance of the Chateau. These items temporarily alter the conditions within the Chateau:
- Writ of Challenge: Increases the number of trainers and their levels for a set period.
- Writ of Invitation: Increases the chance of special guests (Gym Leaders, etc.) appearing.
- Writ of Wealth: Doubles prize money for a set period.
- Writ of Training: Doubles experience points gained for a set period.
The Battle Chateau is an excellent resource for training your Pokémon, earning money, and testing your team's strength against a variety of opponents. visit frequently and aim for the Grand Duke/Duchess rank!
