As you progress through the Kanto region, you'll encounter more powerful Pokémon and face tougher challenges. Here are some Pokémon that can significantly bolster your team during the mid-game:
- Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon (Celadon City - Eevee): You receive an Eevee in Celadon City. You can evolve it using a Water Stone, Thunder Stone, or Fire Stone into one of these powerful Eeveelutions. Vaporeon (Water) is bulky, Jolteon (Electric) is fast, and Flareon (Fire) has high Attack.
- Snorlax (Route 12 & 16): Two Snorlax block paths. You need the Poké Flute to wake them up. Snorlax is a Normal-type with incredibly high HP and Attack, making it a fantastic tank and attacker.
- Lapras (Silph Co.): A gift Pokémon in Silph Co. Lapras is a Water/Ice type with good stats and access to powerful moves like 'Surf' and 'Ice Beam'. Excellent against Dragon and Ground types.
- Dugtrio (Diglett's Cave - Diglett): Diglett evolves into Dugtrio. A very fast Ground-type Pokémon, excellent for outspeeding and one-shotting Electric-types.
- Exeggutor (Safari Zone - Exeggcute): Exeggcute evolves with a Leaf Stone. Exeggutor is a Grass/Psychic type with high Special Attack, making it a strong offensive presence.
These Pokémon offer great type coverage and strong stats to help you overcome mid-game Gym Leaders and Team Rocket.
