Enter the Cerulean City Gym. There are two junior trainers you can battle to warm up. Misty will use:

  • Staryu (Level 18): Water type.
  • Starmie (Level 21): Water/Psychic type.

Pikachu's 'Thunder Shock' will be super effective against both of Misty's Pokémon. Starmie can be particularly challenging due to its speed and 'BubbleBeam' attack. Keep your Pikachu healthy with Potions. If you have a Grass-type Pokémon like Bulbasaur, it will also do well. After defeating Misty, she will award you the Cascade Badge and TM11 (BubbleBeam).
