Shadow Pokémon Bosses
Throughout Pokémon Colosseum, you will encounter numerous Shadow Pokémon wielded by Cipher members. These are not just standard Pokémon; they are corrupted creatures whose hearts have been hardened, making them more aggressive and preventing them from evolving or gaining experience. The primary goal when facing these Shadow Pokémon is not always to defeat them outright, but to "snag" them using Poké Balls. Snagging a Shadow Pokémon is a crucial mechanic that allows you to add them to your team and, eventually, purify them.
Each Shadow Pokémon boss presents a unique challenge. Some are used by Cipher Admins, while others are part of specific story events. Their Shadow Rush move is a powerful attack that deals increased damage and can inflict fear. When battling a Shadow Pokémon, focus on weakening it enough to be snagged without knocking it out. This often involves using Pokémon that can inflict status conditions like paralysis or sleep to make them easier to catch, or simply chipping away at their health carefully. Once snagged, these Shadow Pokémon require purification in Agate Village to unlock their true potential and allow them to evolve. Mastering the art of snagging is fundamental to building a strong team in Colosseum.
