In Pokémon Colosseum, items play a crucial role in both battling and the overall progression of your journey. From essential healing items to powerful held items that boost your Pokémon's stats or abilities, a well-managed inventory can make the difference between victory and defeat. Healing items like Potions and Full Heals are vital for keeping your Pokémon in top condition, especially during long stretches of battles or challenging areas like Mt. Battle. Status-healing items are equally important for removing debilitating conditions like Paralysis, Burn, or Sleep that can cripple your team.

Beyond consumables, held items can sificantly enhance your Pokémon's performance in battle. While Colosseum doesn't feature the same extensive held item system as later generations, certain items can be equipped to provide passive bonuses. These might include items that boost a specific stat, increase the power of certain move types, or provide resistances. Furthermore, TMs (Technical Machines) are a form of "equipment" that teach your Pokémon new moves, allowing you to customize their move sets to exploit enemy weaknesses or cover your team's vulnerabilities.
