Introduction & Story Overview
Welcome, brave soul, to the unsettling world of Post Trauma. This guide will help you navigate the psychological horrors and intricate puzzles that lie ahead. You play as Roman, an aging train conductor who awakens in a nightmarish, distorted reality. Your primary goal is to find your missing family and escape this decaying, surreal environment. The narrative unfolds through environmental storytelling, cryptic notes, and unsettling encounters, pushing you to question what is real and what is a figment of your fractured mind.

The game emphasizes exploration, resource management, and puzzle-solving over direct combat. Every item you find, every note you read, contributes to understanding Roman's predicament and the dark forces at play. Be thorough, be observant, and most importantly, be prepared for the unexpected.
Initial Awakening & The Conductor's Quarters
Your journey begins abruptly. Roman wakes up disoriented in what appears to be his own apartment, albeit a twisted, decaying version of it. Your first objective is to re-establish your bearings and find a way out of the immediate area.
- Examine Your Surroundings: Take a moment to look around the initial room. Notice the flickering lights, the peeling wallpaper, and the unsettling silence. This sets the tone for the entire game.
- Retrieve the Apartment Key: The Apartment Key is crucial for your immediate escape. It's typically found on the small, blood-stained nightstand next to your bed. Interact with the nightstand to pick it up.
- Unlock the Apartment Door: Proceed to the main apartment door. Use the newly acquired Apartment Key to unlock it. The door will creak open, revealing a dimly lit hallway.
The Decaying Hallway & First Encounter
Stepping into the hallway, you'll immediately notice the oppressive atmosphere. The air is thick with dust and the scent of decay. This area introduces you to the game's core mechanics of exploration and environmental interaction.
- Explore the Hallway: Walk slowly down the hallway. Pay attention to the doors on either side. Some may be locked, others may lead to optional areas with valuable lore or items.
- Locate the Flashlight: The hallway is poorly lit, making the Flashlight an essential early item. It's usually found on a small, overturned cabinet near the end of the first corridor section. Interact with the cabinet to retrieve it. Equip it immediately to improve visibility.
- First Note - "Missing": On a bulletin board near the end of the hallway, you'll find your first cryptic note titled "Missing." This note provides the first direct hint about your family's disappearance and deepens the mystery. read it thoroughly; these notes often contain clues for future puzzles.
- Encounter the Shadow Figure: As you approach the exit of the hallway, a fleeting Shadow Figure may appear at the far end, quickly disappearing around a corner. This is your first glimpse of the entities that haunt this world. Do not attempt to engage; for now, your best strategy is avoidance and careful observation.
The Lobby & The Broken Elevator
Exiting the hallway leads you into a larger, dilapidated lobby area. This space serves as a central hub for the early game, with multiple paths branching off. Your immediate goal here is to find a way to progress, as the main exit is blocked.
- Examine the Elevator: The large, ornate elevator in the center of the lobby is your initial target. Upon inspection, you'll find it's non-functional and requires a specific part to operate. The display panel will show "ERROR: POWER UNIT OFFLINE."
- Find the Maintenance Room Key: To fix the elevator, you'll need to access the maintenance room. The Maintenance Room Key is typically hidden beneath a loose floorboard near the reception desk in the lobby. Crouch and interact with the floor to reveal it.
- Access the Maintenance Room: The maintenance room is usually located on the left side of the lobby, behind a locked door. Use the Maintenance Room Key to enter.
- Retrieve the Fused Power Unit: Inside the maintenance room, you'll find various tools and discarded machinery. The crucial item is the Fused Power Unit, often lying on a workbench or a shelf. Pick it up. This unit is damaged and needs repair.
Remember, every step forward in Post Trauma is a step deeper into Roman's deteriorating psyche. Stay vigilant, manage your limited resources, and piece together the fragments of this horrifying reality to uncover the truth and, hopefully, find your way home.
