Episode 6: Each Memory
Welcome to Episode 6, "Each Memory"! This chapter focuses on unraveling the mysteries surrounding the strange occurrences and the merging worlds. You'll be facing a series of challenging battles and puzzles that require a solid understanding of both Puyo Puyo and Tetris mechanics. Pay close attention to character dialogue for clues and always be prepared to adapt your strategy.
Stage 6-1: Ringo vs. Tee
- Location: Primp Town
- Objective: Clear 20 lines (Tetris) or 20 Puyo (Puyo Puyo)
- Strategy: This is a straightforward battle to get you warmed up. Tee prefers Tetris, so if you're comfortable with Puyo Puyo, focus on quick chains to send garbage his way. If you're a Tetris master, aim for T-Spins and Tetrises. The key here is speed and efficiency. Don't let Tee build up too much, as his Tetris skills can be formidable.
Stage 6-2: Arle & Carbuncle vs. Feli
- Location: The Star Swept Path
- Objective: Survive for 90 seconds (Fusion Mode)
- Strategy: Fusion Mode can be chaotic, but Feli's attacks are predictable. Focus on clearing pieces as they fall, prioritizing either Puyo chains or Tetris lines depending on what the board offers. Remember that clearing Puyo will drop Tetriminos, and clearing Tetriminos will drop Puyo. Use this to your advantage to set up larger combos. Don't try to build overly complex chains; quick, consistent clears are more effective for survival.
Stage 6-3: Amitie vs. O
- Location: The Dimensional Rift
- Objective: Defeat O (Swap Mode)
- Strategy: O is a tricky opponent due to the constant board swapping. The best approach here is to build up a strong Puyo chain on one board, then swap to the Tetris board and clear lines to send garbage. When the Puyo board returns, unleash your chain. Conversely, you can set up a Tetris board for a big clear, then swap to Puyo and clear some Puyo to drop garbage. Always be aware of the state of both boards. Don't be afraid to use your "Hard Drop" in Tetris or "Quick Drop" in Puyo to speed up your clears.
Stage 6-4: Ex vs. Marle
- Location: The Grand Hall
- Objective: Clear 15 lines (Tetris) or 15 Puyo (Puyo Puyo) with a Skill Battle twist.
- Strategy: This is your first Skill Battle in this episode! Marle will use skills that can disrupt your board.
- Recommended Skills:
- Attack Up: Increases your garbage output.
- Defense Up: Reduces the impact of incoming garbage.
- Board Clear: A lifesaver if your board gets too cluttered.
- Tactics: Marle often uses skills that fill your board or change your next pieces. Use your Defense Up skill proactively if you see a large attack coming. If your board becomes unmanageable, don't hesitate to use Board Clear. Focus on building medium-sized chains/Tetrises consistently to keep pressure on Marle.
Stage 6-5: Ringo & Tee vs. Squares
- Location: The Nexus Core
- Objective: Defeat Squares (Fusion Mode)
- Strategy: Squares is the main antagonist, and this battle will test all your skills. In Fusion Mode, the key is to manage both Puyo and Tetris pieces simultaneously.
- Key Tactics:
- Prioritize Combos: Look for opportunities to create Fusion combos where clearing Puyo causes Tetriminos to fall into place for lines, or vice-versa.
- Garbage Management: Squares will send a lot of garbage. Be ready to counter with your own clears. If you see a large amount of garbage coming, try to set up a quick clear to mitigate the damage.
- use Hard Drop/Quick Drop: Speed is crucial. Don't waste time letting pieces slowly fall.
- Maintain a Clean Board: Try to keep your board as clear as possible to allow for more strategic placements and larger combos.
- Item Drop: Squares has a chance to drop a rare "Prism Puyo" item upon defeat, which can be useful in later Skill Battles for its versatile color-matching properties.
After defeating Squares, watch the cutscenes unfold as the true nature of the dimensional rift is revealed and the characters begin to piece together their memories. Congratulations on completing Episode 6!
