Level Specific Tips
Welcome, intrepid explorer, to the detailed breakdown of how to conquer the vibrant, musical, and sometimes maddening levels of Rayman Origins! This section will provide actionable strategies, pinpoint item locations, and offer insights to help you achieve 100% completion, whether you're aiming for Electoons, Lums, or Time Trial mastery.
Jungle Dojo
The first world, the Jungle Dojo, serves as an excellent introduction to the core mechanics. Don't let its apparent simplicity fool you; there are still plenty of secrets to uncover and challenges to master.
Swingman's Crash Course
- First Electoon Cage: Immediately after learning the "Punch" ability, you'll encounter a series of Lums and a small enemy. Dispatch the enemy and look to your left. There's a hidden path behind the foliage leading to the first Electoon Cage.
- Lum Chain Strategy: As you progress, you'll reach a section with swinging vines. To collect the entire chain of Lums above the first set of vines, jump and hold the attack button to perform a sustained hover. This allows you to drift across and grab them all without falling.
- Secret Area - Lum King: After the first "Darktoon" enemy (the purple, spiky one), you'll drop down to a lower platform. Instead of moving right, look for a breakable wall to your left. Punch through it to reveal a secret area containing a Lum King and a significant cluster of Lums.
- Time Trial Tip: For the Time Trial, focus on maintaining momentum. Utilize the "run" button constantly and practice your wall-jumps to quickly ascend vertical sections. Don't be afraid to skip some Lums if it means a faster path.
Geyser Fly
- Hidden Electoon Cage: Early in the level, after the first series of geysers, you'll land on a solid platform. Instead of continuing right, look up and to the left. There's a small, barely visible opening in the ceiling. Perform a high jump and hover to reach it, revealing a hidden Electoon Cage.
- Timing the Geysers: The key to this level is precise timing with the geysers. Observe their patterns. Most geysers have a short delay before erupting. Use this delay to position yourself for the optimal jump. For Lums suspended high above, a well-timed jump from a geyser at its peak is crucial.
- Skull Coin Location: Towards the middle of the level, after a section involving multiple horizontal geysers, you'll see a Skull Coin suspended high above a large gap. To reach it, you'll need to use a combination of a high jump from a geyser and a sustained hover. It might take a few tries!
- Enemy Placement: Watch out for the flying "Moskitos" that appear after the second set of vertical geysers. They can knock you off your trajectory. Prioritize punching them out of the air before committing to a geyser jump.
Ticklish Temples
The Ticklish Temples introduce more complex platforming and environmental hazards. Precision and quick reflexes are paramount here.
Hi-Ho Moskito!
- Moskito Riding Basics: This level introduces the Moskito riding mechanic. Remember that you can shoot forward with the attack button and perform a quick dash with the jump button. Use the dash to avoid incoming projectiles and enemies.
- First Electoon Cage (Moskito): During the first Moskito riding segment, after dodging a few large, spiky plants, you'll see a series of small, breakable blocks above you. Shoot them down to reveal a hidden path leading to an Electoon Cage.
- Lum Chain in the Air: There's a particularly tricky Lum chain that weaves through a dense area of spiky plants. To collect them all, you'll need to carefully maneuver your Moskito, using short bursts of fire to clear a path and quick dashes to navigate tight spaces. Don't be afraid to slow down here.
- Boss Strategy - Giant Plant: The boss of this level is a giant, spitting plant. Its weak point is its open mouth. When it opens its mouth to spit projectiles, shoot directly into it. After a few hits, it will recoil, giving you a window to collect any dropped Lums. Be mindful of the smaller flying enemies it spawns.
Aim for the Stars
- Hidden Path to Electoon: Near the beginning, after the first series of bouncy mushrooms, look for a seemingly solid wall to your right. There's a hidden passage that can be revealed by punching it. This leads to an Electoon Cage and a small cluster of Lums.
- Bouncy Mushroom Timing: This level heavily features bouncy mushrooms. To reach higher platforms or collect out-of-reach Lums, you'll often need to combine a bounce with a well-timed jump and hover. Experiment with the timing to get the maximum height.
- Skull Coin Challenge: There's a Skull Coin located after a long vertical ascent using multiple bouncy mushrooms. It's guarded by several "Darktoons" on small platforms. Clear the enemies first, then carefully navigate the bounces to grab the coin.
- Co-op Advantage: In co-op mode, one player can stand on another's head to reach higher Lums or activate switches that are otherwise inaccessible. This is particularly useful in sections with high-up Lum chains.
