Resident Evil 2 utilizes 'tank controls,' which can feel dated but are essential to master. Your character moves relative to their own body, not the camera. Pressing Up on the D-pad/analog stick moves them forward, Down moves them backward, and Left/Right rotates them. Holding the Run button (usually X or Square) while moving forward will make your character sprint, which is vital for escaping danger. The Action button (usually X or Square) is used to interact with objects, open doors, and pick up items.
