Defensive items are single-use tools that can save you from a grab attack. These include the Combat Knife, Submachine Gun, and Grenade. When grabbed by a zombie or Licker, you'll get a prompt to use a defensive item. Using the Combat Knife will stab the enemy, allowing you to escape, but the knife will remain stuck and needs to be retrieved. The Submachine Gun will fire a burst, pushing the enemy back. The Grenade will explode, often killing the enemy instantly. These items are invaluable for escaping dangerous situations without taking damage or wasting precious ammunition. Always try to have one equipped if possible.
