Item Combinations
Mastering item combinations is crucial for survival in the Raccoon City Police Department and beyond. Many essential items, from healing supplies to powerful ammunition, are not found in their final form but must be crafted from components. This section details all vital combinations, their uses, and where to find the necessary ingredients.
Healing Item Combinations
Efficient use of herbs is paramount to conserving precious inventory space and maximizing your healing potential. Always prioritize combining herbs for greater effect.
- Green Herb + Green Herb: Combines two Green Herbs into a single, more potent healing item. This restores a significant portion of your health. You'll find Green Herbs frequently in the Main Hall, East Office, and various outdoor areas around the RPD.
- Green Herb + Green Herb + Green Herb: The ultimate herbal healing combination. This restores your health to full, making it invaluable for critical situations. Stock up on Green Herbs from the RPD's Main Hall and the Courtyard.
- Green Herb + Red Herb: Creates a powerful healing mixture that restores full health. Red Herbs are rarer, often found in the RPD's Dark Room and the Courtyard, so use them wisely.
- Green Herb + Blue Herb: This combination provides a standard health restoration while also curing poison. Blue Herbs are less common, typically found in the RPD's West Office and the Sewer areas.
- Green Herb + Red Herb + Blue Herb: The most comprehensive healing item in the game. It fully restores health and cures any poison status. This is a life-saver for boss encounters or areas with poisonous enemies like the Giant Spiders in the Sewers.
Ammunition Crafting
Running out of ammo is a common pitfall. Fortunately, Leon and Claire can craft additional ammunition for some of their weapons using Gunpowder. Always keep an eye out for these crucial components.
- Gunpowder + Gunpowder (Leon): Combines two units of Gunpowder to create Handgun Bullets. Leon starts with a Handgun, and this is his primary source of additional ammo. Gunpowder is scattered throughout the RPD, often found in storage rooms and offices like the West Office and the Interrogation Room.
- Gunpowder + Gunpowder (Claire): Combines two units of Gunpowder to create Handgun Bullets for Claire's Browning HP. Claire will find Gunpowder in similar locations to Leon, such as the RPD's East Office and the Library.
- Gunpowder + Gunpowder (Leon/Claire - Special): If you combine Gunpowder with the Large Gunpowder (a rarer variant found in specific locations like the RPD's S.T.A.R.S. Office), you can create a larger batch of Handgun Bullets.
- Gunpowder + Grenade Rounds (Claire): Combining Gunpowder with Grenade Rounds (found in the RPD's S.T.A.R.S. Office or the Sewers) will replenish your Grenade Launcher ammunition. This is vital for taking down tougher enemies and bosses.
- Gunpowder + Shotgun Shells (Leon): Combining Gunpowder with Shotgun Shells (found in the RPD's Weapon Storage or the Sewers) will replenish your Shotgun ammunition. The Shotgun is excellent for crowd control and close-quarters combat.
Special Item Combinations
Beyond healing and ammo, a few unique combinations are essential for progression or gaining an advantage.
- Weapon + Custom Part: Many weapons in Resident Evil 2 can be upgraded with custom parts found throughout the game. For example, Leon can combine the Shotgun with the Shotgun Stock (found in the RPD's Weapon Storage) to improve its firing rate. Claire can combine her Grenade Launcher with the Grenade Launcher Stock (found in the RPD's S.T.A.R.S. Office) for increased stability. Always check your inventory for available custom parts once you acquire a new weapon.
- Film Roll + Dark Room Chemicals: While not a direct combination in your inventory, you must bring any Film Rolls you find (e.g., from the RPD's S.T.A.R.S. Office) to the Dark Room (located near the Main Hall). Use the chemicals there to develop the film, revealing crucial clues or story elements.
- Valve Handle + Fire Hose: In specific scenarios, you might need to combine the Valve Handle (found in the RPD's Boiler Room) with a Fire Hose (often found near fire hazards or water sources) to activate water systems or extinguish fires, clearing your path forward.
Remember to experiment with items in your inventory. The "Combine" option will highlight compatible items, making it easier to discover these crucial recipes for survival.
