Parking Garage & Kennel

This section details the perilous journey through the Underground, culminating in the acquisition of crucial items within the Parking Garage and Kennel areas. The path and specific weapon found will differ slightly depending on whether you are playing as Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield. This guide covers both scenarios, ensuring you're prepared regardless of your chosen protagonist.

General Underground Passage & Weapon Acquisition

After successfully placing all three medallions in the Main Hall statue, the secret passage will open, granting access to the Underground. This area serves as a transition point, leading you deeper into the Raccoon City Police Department's underbelly.

  1. Descend into the Underground: Follow the newly opened path from the Main Hall. The initial corridors are relatively safe, but be on alert for any lurking zombies.
  2. Weapon Locker Room: As you navigate, you will encounter a small room with a weapon locker. This is where you can acquire a powerful new firearm, provided you have the necessary key.
    • Required Item: Weapons Locker Key Card (found in the Art Room, 2F RPD).
    • Leon's Campaign: Inside the locker, Leon will find the W-870 Shotgun. This weapon is excellent for crowd control and dealing high damage to tougher enemies at close range.
    • Claire's Campaign: Claire will instead find the GM 79 Grenade Launcher. This versatile weapon can be loaded with Flame Rounds (effective against most organic enemies) or Acid Rounds (particularly useful against G-Mutants and Lickers).
  3. Continue to the Parking Garage: Proceed through the Underground passages. You'll encounter a few standard zombies along the way. Conserve your ammunition where possible, opting for headshots or evasion if you're well-stocked on healing items.

Parking Garage Exploration & Key Card Hunt

Upon reaching the Parking Garage, you'll immediately notice its vastness and the eerie silence. This area introduces a new, aggressive enemy type: the Cerberus (infected dogs). Your primary objective here is to locate the Parking Garage Key Card to proceed further.

  1. Initial Encounter: As you enter the Parking Garage, be prepared for an immediate encounter with at least one Cerberus. These enemies are fast and can be difficult to hit. Aim for their heads or use a powerful weapon like the Shotgun/Grenade Launcher for quick dispatch.
  2. Locate the Kennel Entrance: The entrance to the Kennel is located on the eastern side of the Parking Garage. Navigate carefully, as more Cerberus may appear.
  3. Inside the Kennel:
    • Dog Kennel Key: Upon entering the Kennel, you'll find the Dog Kennel Key on a wall hook or a nearby table. This key is essential for accessing the Morgue.
    • Cerberus Threat: Be wary of the dog kennels themselves; some may contain live Cerberus that can burst out and attack. Listen for growling and be ready to react.
  4. Accessing the Morgue: Use the Dog Kennel Key to unlock the door leading to the Morgue, which is adjacent to the Kennel.
  5. Morgue Exploration & Diamond Key:
    • Examine the Body: Inside the Morgue, you'll find several body drawers. One of them will contain a gruesome surprise and the Diamond Key. Interact with the drawers until you find it. Be prepared for a zombie to reanimate from one of the drawers.
    • File: Look for the "Autopsy Report" file on a gurney or table for some lore and context.
  6. Autopsy Room & Parking Garage Key Card:
    • Unlock the Autopsy Room: Use the newly acquired Diamond Key to unlock the door to the Autopsy Room, which is also within the Morgue complex.
    • Retrieve the Key Card: Inside the Autopsy Room, you will find the Parking Garage Key Card on a desk or examination table.
    • Be Prepared for a Surprise: As you attempt to leave the Autopsy Room or the Morgue, a Licker will likely drop from the ceiling or burst through a vent. These enemies are blind but have excellent hearing. Move slowly and quietly, or be ready for a fight. The Shotgun (Leon) or Acid Rounds (Claire) are highly effective against Lickers.

Recommended Loadout & Strategy Tips

  • Leon: The W-870 Shotgun is your best friend against Cerberus and Lickers. Combine it with the Matilda handgun for standard zombies to conserve shotgun shells.
  • Claire: The GM 79 Grenade Launcher with Flame Rounds is excellent for clearing groups of Cerberus or stunning Lickers. Use the SLS 60 (upgraded with Speed Loader) or JMB Hp3 for standard zombie encounters.
  • Cerberus Strategy: Aim for their heads. If they jump at you, a well-timed knife counter can save you health. They are vulnerable to powerful single shots.
  • Licker Strategy: If you can, sneak past them by walking slowly. If a fight is unavoidable, use powerful weapons. Flashbangs can stun them, allowing for easy follow-up attacks.
  • Resource Management: The Underground and Parking Garage can be resource-intensive. Craft ammunition and healing items whenever possible.
  • Map Awareness: Constantly check your map for unexplored areas and item locations.
