Grave Digger

Tactics for defeating the Grave Digger boss in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, including environmental hazards.

Phase 1: Underground Cavern

The Grave Digger is a massive worm-like creature encountered in the underground cavern. It will emerge from the ground and attack with its powerful jaws. The key to this fight is to lure it into the electrified puddles. Shoot the red generator boxes near the puddles to electrify them. When the Grave Digger is in a puddle, it will be stunned, exposing its vulnerable mouth. Unleash your most powerful weapons (Shotgun, Magnum, Grenade Launcher) into its mouth during this stunned state. Avoid standing in the puddles yourself, as they will damage Jill.

Phase 2: Final Blow

After taking significant damage, the Grave Digger will become more aggressive. Continue to lure it into the electrified puddles. Eventually, it will be stunned for a longer period, allowing you to finish it off. Ensure you have enough powerful ammo for this final push. Keep an eye on your health, as its attacks can deal heavy damage. Once defeated, you can proceed through the cavern.

While the Grave Digger served as a major environmental boss in the original title, this massive creature was notably omitted from the Resident Evil 3 (Remake) campaign.

While the Grave Digger relies on environmental hazards for defeat, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X features the similarly subterranean Gulp Worm which requires more traditional, high-damage weaponry.
