Walkthrough - Clock Tower

Welcome to the Clock Tower, a pivotal and often challenging section of Resident Evil 3. This guide will help you navigate its intricate layout, solve its puzzles, and survive its deadly encounters.

Clock Tower Grounds

Upon entering the Clock Tower grounds, you'll find yourself in a courtyard. Be prepared for immediate threats:

• Zombies: Several standard zombies patrol this area. Conserve ammo by aiming for headshots or using the quick turn and run strategy if you're low on resources.
• Item: Check the small alcove to your left as you enter for some Handgun Ammo.

Your primary goal here is to reach the main entrance of the Clock Tower itself. Head straight, then take the path to the right, avoiding or dispatching any remaining zombies.

Main Hall - Ground Floor

Once inside the Clock Tower, you'll be in a grand, albeit decaying, main hall.

• Save Room: Immediately to your left is a door leading to a much-needed save room.
  • Inside, you'll find an Item Box, a Typewriter for saving your progress, and usually some First Aid Spray or Green Herbs. Take this opportunity to organize your inventory and save.
• Main Hall Exploration:
  • Item: On a bench near the center of the hall, pick up the Clock Tower Map. This is crucial for navigating the building.
  • Item: Examine the display case to find a Silver Gear. This is a key puzzle item.
  • Enemies: Expect a few more zombies to shamble into view as you explore.

Second Floor - Library and Music Box Puzzle

Head up the grand staircase in the main hall to reach the second floor.

• Library Entrance: The door directly ahead at the top of the stairs leads to the library.
• Library Exploration:
  • Item: On a table in the library, you'll find the Music Box Key.
  • Enemies: A few more zombies are likely present here. Deal with them efficiently.
• Music Box Room: From the library, look for another door leading to a smaller room with a large music box.
  • Puzzle: Use the Music Box Key on the music box. This will activate a short cutscene and reveal the Bronze Gear. Collect it.

Clock Mechanism Room - Gear Puzzle

With both the Silver and Bronze Gears in hand, it's time to repair the clock mechanism.

• Location: The Clock Mechanism Room is located on the second floor, accessible from a separate door in the main hall, opposite the library entrance.
• Puzzle:
  1. Approach the large, exposed clock mechanism.
  2. Use the Silver Gear on the mechanism.
  3. Use the Bronze Gear on the mechanism.
  4. Once both gears are placed correctly, the clock will chime, and a new path will open, usually revealing a hidden ladder or staircase.

Bell Tower and Nemesis Encounter

The newly opened path leads to the Bell Tower, where a major encounter awaits.

• Ascent: Climb the ladder or stairs. Be prepared for a challenging fight.
• Nemesis Battle: This is a mandatory encounter with Nemesis.
  • Strategy: Nemesis will be relentless. Focus on dodging his attacks and aiming for his head with your most powerful weapons (Shotgun, Grenade Launcher).
  • Environment: use the limited space to your advantage. There might be explosive barrels or other environmental hazards you can use against him.
  • Reward: After dealing enough damage, Nemesis will be temporarily incapacitated, dropping a valuable item like the Eagle Parts A or Eagle Parts B (depending on your previous choices/difficulty).
• Exit: Once Nemesis is down, locate the exit from the Bell Tower, which usually leads to the next area of the game.
