Walkthrough - Raccoon City Police Department (Carlos' Section)

Welcome, UBCS operative! Your mission as Carlos Oliveira is to locate the vaccine in the Raccoon City Police Department. This section will guide you through the infested halls and puzzles to ensure your success. Be prepared; while you're well-armed, resources are still finite, and every shot counts.

R.P.D. Main Hall & West Office

  • Starting Point: You begin in the Main Hall of the R.P.D. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the layout if you're new to this iconic location.
  • Immediate Actions:
    • Head straight and interact with the front desk. You'll find a box of Handgun Ammo and a First Aid Spray.
    • To your right (east side), you'll see a shuttered door. This leads to the East Office, but it's currently inaccessible.
    • To your left (west side), there's an open door leading to the West Office. Proceed through here.
  • West Office Exploration:
    • Upon entering the West Office, you'll immediately encounter a few zombies. Conserve your ammo by aiming for headshots or using quick turns to bypass them if possible.
    • On the desk directly in front of you, pick up the R.P.D. Map. This is crucial for navigation.
    • Check the other desks for more Handgun Ammo and a Green Herb.
    • In the small, partitioned office area within the West Office, you'll find a File: Internal Memo on a desk. Read it for some lore and a hint about the S.T.A.R.S. Office.

S.T.A.R.S. Office & Darkroom

  • Path to S.T.A.R.S.:
    • Exit the West Office back into the Main Hall.
    • Ascend the main staircase in the Main Hall to the second floor.
    • Turn left at the top of the stairs and proceed down the hallway. You'll pass the Library entrance on your right (currently locked).
    • Continue until you reach the door to the S.T.A.R.S. Office.
  • S.T.A.R.S. Office Scavenging:
    • Inside the S.T.A.R.S. Office, you'll find a wealth of useful items.
    • On the main desk, collect the S.T.A.R.S. Card Key. This is a key item for accessing other areas.
    • Also on the desk, grab the Assault Rifle Ammo and a First Aid Spray.
    • Check the lockers for additional Assault Rifle Ammo and a Blue Herb.
    • There's also a File: S.T.A.R.S. Memo on the corkboard.
    • Important: The Item Box and Typewriter are located here. Use this opportunity to save your game and manage your inventory. You'll want to carry the S.T.A.R.S. Card Key.
  • Darkroom Detour:
    • Exit the S.T.A.R.S. Office and head back down the second-floor hallway.
    • Descend the main staircase to the first floor.
    • From the Main Hall, head through the West Office again.
    • At the end of the West Office, you'll find a door leading to the Darkroom.
    • Inside the Darkroom, you'll find a Green Herb and another First Aid Spray. There's also a File: Photo A on the counter.
    • This room also contains an Item Box and Typewriter, offering another save point.

East Office & Operations Room

  • Accessing the East Office:
    • Return to the Main Hall from the Darkroom/West Office.
    • Now, approach the shuttered door on the east side of the Main Hall. Use the S.T.A.R.S. Card Key to open it.
    • Be wary as you enter the East Office; there are usually a few zombies lurking here.
  • East Office & Operations Room:
    • In the East Office, you'll find Handgun Ammo on a desk and a File: Fax from Kendo.
    • Proceed through the door at the back of the East Office into the Operations Room.
    • Inside the Operations Room, you'll find a Green Herb and more Handgun Ammo.
    • On the main console, there's a File: Report about the Vaccine. Read this carefully, as it provides crucial information about your objective.
    • You'll also find a Fuse on the wall panel. This is a key item needed to restore power.

Power Restoration & Exit

  • The Power Puzzle:
    • With the Fuse in hand, your next objective is to restore power to the shutter in the Main Hall that leads to the next area.
    • From the Operations Room, head back through the East Office to the Main Hall.
    • Go to the second floor of the Main Hall.
    • Head down the hallway past the S.T.A.R.S. Office towards the shuttered door on the far end.
    • On the wall next to this shutter, you'll find a fuse box. Use the Fuse you just acquired to restore power.
  • Final Steps:
    • Once power is restored, the shutter will open.
    • Proceed through this newly opened path. You'll find yourself in a corridor with a few more zombies. Deal with them or run past.
    • At the end of this corridor, you'll reach a door that leads out of the R.P.D. and further into the city.
