Walkthrough - Train

Welcome, S.T.A.R.S. operative! This section will guide you through the perilous journey aboard the Raccoon City subway train. Prepare for tight quarters and unexpected encounters.

Entering the Train Car

After the cutscene where Jill boards the train, you'll find yourself in the first passenger car. Your immediate goal is to get the train operational.

  1. Examine the Console: Head to the front of the car and interact with the control panel. You'll notice it's missing a crucial component.
  2. Collect the Train Map: On the wall near the console, you'll find a Train Map. Pick it up; it will be useful for navigating the subsequent cars.
  3. Proceed to the Next Car: Exit through the door at the back of the first car.

The Second Passenger Car

This car is relatively safe, but don't get complacent.

  • Item Acquisition:
    • On one of the seats, you'll find a box of Handgun Ammo. Always good to stock up!
    • Check the floor near the door you entered for a Green Herb. Combine it with others for a stronger healing effect.
  • Continue Forward: Move to the next door leading to the third car.

The Dining Car & Kitchen

This area presents your first real challenge on the train.

  1. Zombie Encounter: As you enter the dining car, be prepared for 2-3 Zombies to shamble towards you. The narrow space makes dodging difficult, so aim for headshots or use a powerful weapon if you have one.
  2. Dining Car Items:
    • On one of the tables, you can pick up a First Aid Spray. Save these for emergencies!
    • Near the kitchen entrance, look for another box of Handgun Ammo.
  3. Kitchen Exploration: Enter the small kitchen area.
    • On the counter, you'll find a Red Herb. Remember, Red Herbs boost the healing power of Green Herbs when combined.
    • The most important item here is the Wrench, located on a shelf or counter. This will be vital for later.
  4. Return to the First Car: With the Wrench in hand, backtrack through the second car to the first passenger car where the control panel is.

Repairing the Train

Now it's time to get this locomotive moving!

  1. Use the Wrench: Approach the control panel in the first car. Use the Wrench on the exposed mechanism.
  2. Activate the Controls: Once the Wrench is used, interact with the console again. You'll need to solve a simple puzzle to get the train started. The exact sequence may vary slightly, but generally involves flipping switches in a specific order (e.g., "Power On," "Engine Start," "Brake Release"). Pay attention to the console's display for clues.
  3. Prepare for Departure: Once the train is operational, a short cutscene will play, signaling your progress.

Important Note: Keep an eye on your inventory. Space is limited, and you'll want to prioritize healing items and ammunition. Consider using the item box if you find one, though they are rare on the train itself.
