Walkthrough - Underground Passage
Welcome, survivor! This section will guide you through the treacherous Underground Passage, a critical path to your escape. Be prepared for close-quarters combat and environmental puzzles. Resource management is key here, so only engage when necessary.
Navigating the Initial Sewers
Upon entering the Underground Passage, you'll find yourself in a dimly lit sewer tunnel. Your immediate goal is to locate the power source for the next area.
- Initial Descent: After the cutscene, proceed down the ladder. You'll land on a narrow walkway.
- First Encounter: Two Drain Deimos will drop from the ceiling ahead. These creatures are fast and can inflict poison. A few shotgun blasts or well-placed handgun shots will take them down. Consider using your Combat Knife if you're low on ammo and confident in your dodging.
- Item Pickups:
- To your immediate left after descending, check the corner for Handgun Ammo.
- Further down the walkway, before the next turn, you'll find a Green Herb. Combine it with another herb if you have one for a stronger healing effect.
- Path Forward: Continue along the walkway. You'll come to a junction with a locked door to your right and a path leading deeper into the sewers straight ahead. The locked door requires a specific key we'll acquire later.
The Control Room and Power Puzzle
The path straight ahead leads to a small control room where you'll need to restore power.
- Entering the Control Room: As you approach the control room entrance, be wary of a single Zombie that may shamble out from the shadows.
- Inside the Control Room:
- File: On the desk to your left, pick up the "Sewer Manager's Memo". This document provides a hint about the power system.
- Power Panel: Interact with the large power panel on the far wall. You'll notice several levers. The memo indicates that the power needs to be routed to the "Main Valve."
- Solution: The puzzle requires you to activate the correct combination of levers to power the main valve. The solution is usually to activate the "A" and "C" levers, or sometimes the "B" and "D" levers, depending on the random variant. Experiment if unsure, but listen for the distinct sound of power flowing.
- Reward: Once power is restored, the door to the next section will unlock, and you'll hear a mechanism whirring.
Beyond the Control Room
With power restored, you can now access the next segment of the Underground Passage.
- New Path: Exit the control room and head through the newly unlocked door.
- Waterway Section: You'll enter a wider waterway. Be cautious, as several Drain Deimos lurk in the water and on the ledges. It's often best to run past them if you're low on health or ammo, as engaging multiple at once can be costly.
- Key Item: On a small platform in the middle of this waterway, you'll find the Wrench. This is a crucial item for progressing.
- Exit: Continue through the waterway until you reach another ladder. Climb it to proceed to the next area.
Remember to save your game at any typewriter you encounter, especially after solving the power puzzle or acquiring the Wrench. The Underground Passage can be unforgiving!
