Enemy Types & Weaknesses

Raccoon City is crawling with biological horrors, and understanding their behaviors and vulnerabilities is key to Jill Valentine's survival. This section details the common enemies you'll encounter, along with actionable strategies and weapon recommendations to help you conserve precious ammunition and health items.

Standard Infected

  • Zombie

The most common threat, these shambling undead are slow but relentless. Headshots are the most efficient way to dispatch them. A single shotgun blast to the head will usually do the trick, or 2-3 pistol rounds if aimed carefully. If you're low on ammo, consider using the Knife for a quick stab to the head if they're on the ground, or simply run past them in open areas. Avoid getting cornered.

    • Weakness: Headshots, Explosives
    • Recommended Weapons: Handgun, Shotgun
    • Strategy: Aim for the head. If multiple are present, use the Shotgun's spread or a Grenade Launcher with Grenade Rounds to clear a path.
  • Cerberus (Zombie Dog)

These infected canines are fast and attack in packs. Their speed makes them difficult to target precisely. A well-placed Shotgun blast can take one down quickly. If you're in a tight corridor, a single Grenade Round from the Grenade Launcher can often incapacitate or kill multiple dogs. Avoid their lunging attacks by strafing or quick turning.

    • Weakness: Speed, Shotgun spread
    • Recommended Weapons: Shotgun, Grenade Launcher (Grenade Rounds)
    • Strategy: Keep your distance. If they get close, a quick Shotgun blast or a well-timed dodge is crucial.
  • Crows

While not a major threat individually, large flocks of crows can peck away at your health. They are easily startled and often found in outdoor areas like the Downtown Streets or the Raccoon City Park. A single pistol shot or even a quick dash can scatter them. Don't waste valuable heavy ammunition on them.

    • Weakness: Any damage, Loud noises
    • Recommended Weapons: Handgun (minimal ammo), Knife (if desperate)
    • Strategy: Run past them or fire a single pistol shot to disperse the flock.

Mutated Creatures

  • Drain Deimos

These insect-like creatures cling to walls and ceilings, dropping down to attack. They can inflict a nasty bite that drains your health. They are relatively fragile. A few pistol shots or a single Shotgun blast will dispatch them. Be aware of their presence in areas like the Subway or the Clock Tower.

    • Weakness: Any direct damage
    • Recommended Weapons: Handgun, Shotgun
    • Strategy: Listen for their distinct scuttling sound. Look up and shoot them before they can drop down.
  • Brain Sucker

Similar to Drain Deimos, but these creatures are more aggressive and can spit a corrosive fluid that causes the "Poison" status effect. Always carry Blue Herbs or a Mixed Herb (G+B) when encountering them, especially in the Raccoon City Hospital. They are vulnerable to fire.

    • Weakness: Fire, Explosives
    • Recommended Weapons: Grenade Launcher (Flame Rounds), Shotgun
    • Strategy: Prioritize these over Drain Deimos due to their poison attack. Flame Rounds are highly effective.
  • Hunter Beta

These reptilian humanoids are fast, agile, and can perform a devastating jump attack. They are often found in the Raccoon City Hospital and later areas. Aim for their head or torso with powerful weapons. The Magnum is excellent for a quick kill, or 2-3 Shotgun blasts.

    • Weakness: High-damage weapons
    • Recommended Weapons: Shotgun, Magnum, Grenade Launcher (Explosive Rounds)
    • Strategy: Keep your distance and use powerful weapons. A well-timed dodge can avoid their jump attack, giving you an opening.
  • Hunter Gamma

A more dangerous variant of the Hunter, these creatures are larger and can swallow Jill whole if they get close. They are particularly vulnerable when their mouth is open, revealing their soft interior. They are commonly encountered in the Dead Factory. Use powerful weapons and aim for their open maw.

    • Weakness: Interior (when mouth open), Explosives
    • Recommended Weapons: Magnum, Grenade Launcher (Explosive Rounds or Acid Rounds)
    • Strategy: Wait for them to open their mouth before firing. If they get too close, a quick Shotgun blast can stagger them, allowing you to escape.
  • Webspinner (Giant Spider)

These massive spiders can spit venom and lay smaller spiders. They are slow but can be a nuisance in tight spaces. Fire-based weapons are highly effective against them. You'll first encounter them in the Clock Tower and later in the Dead Factory.

    • Weakness: Fire, Explosives
    • Recommended Weapons: Grenade Launcher (Flame Rounds), Shotgun
    • Strategy: Use Flame Rounds to quickly dispatch them and any smaller spiders they might spawn. Keep moving to avoid their venom.
  • Slitherworm

These large, segmented worms burrow through the ground and emerge to attack. They are often found in the Dead Factory. They have a weak point at their head. Explosives are very effective against them, especially when they are fully emerged.

    • Weakness: Head, Explosives
    • Recommended Weapons: Grenade Launcher (Explosive Rounds), Magnum
    • Strategy: Wait for them to fully emerge before firing. A well-placed Grenade Round can often take them down in one hit.
  • Poison Roach

Small, fast, and capable of inflicting poison. These pests are more annoying than dangerous, but their poison can quickly deplete your Blue Herbs. They are usually found in damp, dark areas. A single pistol shot or even the Knife can kill them, but they are hard to hit.

    • Weakness: Any damage, Wide-area attacks
    • Recommended Weapons: Handgun, Shotgun (if multiple)
    • Strategy: Avoid them if possible. If you must engage, use quick, precise shots. Consider a Shotgun blast if a swarm is present.
