Grenades and other explosive devices are indispensable tools in Resident Evil 4 Remake, offering crowd control, powerful damage against tough enemies, and the ability to exploit environmental hazards. Mastering their use can turn the tide of overwhelming encounters and conserve valuable ammunition for your firearms.

Leon can acquire several types of throwable explosives throughout his journey. These include Flash Grenades, Frag Grenades, and the powerful Incendiary Grenades. Each has its own unique properties and best use cases. Flash Grenades are excellent for temporarily blinding and stunning groups of enemies, making them vulnerable to follow-up attacks or allowing for a quick escape. Frag Grenades deal significant explosive damage in a radius, ideal for clearing out clustered enemies or damaging heavily armored foes. Incendiary Grenades create a lingering area of fire, perfect for denying enemy movement or dealing damage over time.

Types of Grenades and Explosives:

• Flash Grenade:
  • Effect: Emits a bright flash that temporarily blinds and stuns enemies.
  • Best Use: Crowd control, escaping grapples, setting up critical hits on stunned enemies, especially effective against Regenerators and Iron Maidens.
• Frag Grenade:
  • Effect: Explodes after a short fuse, dealing significant physical damage in a radius.
  • Best Use: Damaging groups of enemies, taking down heavily armored foes like Brutes, or dealing burst damage to bosses.
• Incendiary Grenade:
  • Effect: Creates a pool of fire that deals damage over time and can ite enemies.
  • Best Use: Area denial, flushing enemies out of cover, dealing with fast-moving enemies, or damaging groups that are slow to disperse.
• Rocket Launcher:
  • Effect: Fires a powerful rocket that causes a massive explosion.
  • Best Use: Reserved for boss fights or extremely difficult encounters where immense damage is required. Limited ammunition.
• Barrel Explosions:
  • Effect: Red barrels scattered throughout the environment explode when shot, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
  • Best Use: Tactical use of the environment to damage or eliminate enemies without expending your own resources.

Strategic Use of Explosives:

• Crowd Control: Flash Grenades are your best friend when swarmed by multiple enemies. A well-placed Flash Grenade can stun an entire group, allowing you to reposition or pick them off with firearms.
• Exploiting Weaknesses: Certain enemies are particularly vulnerable to explosives. For example, the Regenerators and Iron Maidens can be temporarily incapacitated by Flash Grenades, allowing you to target their weak points.
• Environmental Hazards: Always be on the lookout for explosive barrels. Shooting them when enemies are nearby is a highly efficient way to deal damage.
• Boss Fights: Grenades can be crucial for dealing damage during boss encounters, especially when the boss is vulnerable or when you need to create an opening.
• Conserve Ammunition: When facing a large group of weaker enemies, using a Frag or Incendiary Grenade can save you a significant amount of handgun or rifle ammo.

Remember to be mindful of the blast radius when throwing grenades, as you can also damage yourself if you're too close. Effective use of explosives is a hallmark of a skilled survivor in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
