Every enemy in Resident Evil 4 Remake has specific weaknesses and exploitable behaviors that can turn a desperate fight into a manageable encounter. Understanding these vulnerabilities is key to conserving ammunition and efficiently dispatching foes. This guide details common enemy weaknesses and how to exploit them.

General Enemy Weaknesses

Many enemies share common vulnerabilities:

  • Headshots: The most universal weakness. A well-aimed headshot will stagger most Ganados, creating an opening for a melee attack or a follow-up shot. Critical headshots can even kill weaker enemies instantly.
  • Kneecaps: Shooting an enemy in the knee will cause them to stumble or fall, allowing for a melee attack or a chance to escape. This is particularly useful for crowd control.
  • Weak Points: Some enemies have specific glowing weak points that take significantly more damage. This is most apparent with bosses and certain mutated enemies.

Specific Enemy Weaknesses & Exploits

Ganados (Villagers/Cultists)

  • Weakness: Headshots, kneecaps.
  • Exploit: Stagger them with headshots and follow up with a powerful melee kick or suplex. Shooting their legs to make them fall allows for a quick knife finisher.

Plagas (Infected Forms)

  • Weakness: Exposed Plagas, fire.
  • Exploit: When enemies are infected, their Plagas will often emerge. Target these exposed, writhing appendages for critical damage. Fire-based weapons or explosives are also effective against them.

Chainsaw Man (Dr. Salvador)

  • Weakness: Headshots (difficult), explosives, sustained fire.
  • Exploit: While a headshot can stagger him, it's incredibly difficult to land consistently. Shotguns at close range can stun him, and grenades are very effective at creating distance or dealing significant damage. Aim for his head when he's stunned.

El Gigante

  • Weakness: The parasite on its back, its eyes.
  • Exploit: When it kneels or is staggered, a Plaga will emerge from its back. Climb onto it and attack the Plaga directly. Alternatively, sustained fire on its eyes can also damage it.

Garrador

  • Weakness: Exposed back, head.
  • Exploit: The Garrador has a visible Plaga on its back. When it raises its clawed arm, its back is exposed. Aim for the Plaga. Alternatively, headshots can stagger it.

Regenerators/Iron Maidens

  • Weakness: Parasites (visible with Thermal Scope).
  • Exploit: As detailed in Section 6.14, the Thermal Scope is essential. Target the glowing parasites within their bodies. Destroying all parasites kills them.

Krauser (Knife Form)

  • Weakness: Parries, well-timed shots.
  • Exploit: His attacks are heavily telegraphed. Parrying his knife strikes is crucial. When he's open after an attack, a quick shot or melee can stagger him.

Salazar (Giant Form)

  • Weakness: The eye on his tentacle, the eye within his core.
  • Exploit: Shoot the eye on the tentacles to retract them. Once his core is exposed, target the eye within it.

General Combat Exploits

  • Environmental Hazards: Use explosive barrels to damage groups of enemies. Lure enemies into traps.
  • Staggering: Always look for opportunities to stagger enemies. This creates openings for powerful melee attacks, which conserve ammo and deal high damage.
  • Knife Usage: The knife is incredibly useful for finishing off downed enemies, breaking crates, and even parrying certain attacks. Don't underestimate its utility.

Learning Curve

The best way to learn these weaknesses is through observation and experimentation. Pay attention to how enemies react to different types of damage. Don't be afraid to try different weapons and tactics.
