Verdugo, the terrifying right-hand of Salazar, is one of Resident Evil 4 Remake's most challenging and suspenseful boss encounters. This fight takes place in a frigid, industrial area and tests your ability to manage the environment, exploit Verdugo's weaknesses, and survive its relentless pursuit.

The encounter with Verdugo is unique as it begins with a chase sequence. Verdugo will stalk Leon through a series of interconnected rooms, utilizing vents and its incredible speed to attack. Your primary goal during this phase is survival and creating opportunities to damage it. Verdugo is highly resistant to conventional gunfire, so relying solely on your handgun won't be effective. The environment plays a crucial role; you can use the liquid nitrogen dispensers scattered throughout the area to freeze Verdugo temporarily, making it vulnerable to attacks.

Phase 1: The Chase and Initial Encounters

  • Strategic Freezing: Use the liquid nitrogen dispensers to your advantage. Lure Verdugo near them and freeze it to deal significant damage. You may need to activate multiple dispensers to keep it frozen long enough for substantial damage.
  • Powerful Weapons: The shotgun and rifle are your best friends here. Use them when Verdugo is frozen or staggered.
  • Grenades: Incendiary grenades can be effective in creating lingering damage, and flash grenades can temporarily stun it, though its resistance is high.
