2-2: Mining Area

In the Mining Area, you'll encounter a mysterious figure dashing off in the distance. Search the open area with Moira for Sparkle Item x2 and break a nearby Box. Use the shutter to proceed. Head up the stairs and check rooms behind you for another Box. After a quick scene with a monitor, continue forward.

You will find a staircase leading to a second level with a locked door, which is the _Control Room_ requiring a key. This room is not explored during this half of the story. In the foyer, look up to find Tower Emblem 2/8. To the right, read the Improving Security Measures document, noting the flame bust for later. Grab the Detention Center Map from the left table. Examine the door in front of you, which is missing a _Gear Kog_.

Head right down a short hallway to a door. Past this door, a dead-end contains the Excerpt from Karka’s “In the Penal Colony” document on a chair. Break the Box at the end of the hallway and enter the room. Follow the path into the next room where a Zombie will appear, followed by 3 more from the hallway. These are slow-walking Zombies, making headshots easy. Check the small area where the first Zombie appeared for a Crate. Jump across fallen lockers and enter the next area.
