Achievements / Trophies
Welcome, completionists! This section is dedicated to guiding you through every unlockable achievement and trophy in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Some are straightforward, others require careful planning and multiple playthroughs. We'll break down the most challenging ones with actionable strategies to ensure you don't miss a single one.
Story-Related Achievements (Unmissable)
These achievements are earned simply by progressing through the main story. You cannot miss them, so don't worry about specific steps for these.
- She's Alive: Travel to the Baker's residence.
- Welcome to the Family: Escape the Guest House.
- The Nightmare Ends: Complete the game on any difficulty.
- Just Get Me Outta Here: Escape the Baker's residence.
- You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet: Discover the secret of the Baker family.
Combat & Survival Achievements
Resourceful Combatant
Description: Defeat 3 or more enemies with a single attack.
Strategy: This is best achieved early in the game when dealing with multiple Molded enemies in confined spaces. A prime opportunity is in the Processing Area after obtaining the Dissection Room Key. Once you open the door to the Dissection Room, several Molded will emerge from the surrounding corridors. Gather them together by running in circles, then use a powerful area-of-effect weapon:
- Remote Bombs: Place one in a choke point and lure enemies over it. Detonate when at least three are clustered. You can find Remote Bombs in the Main House 1F Laundry Room (after solving the shadow puzzle) and the Main House 2F Bathroom.
- Grenade Launcher (Flame Rounds): The Grenade Launcher is found in the Main House 2F Kid's Room. Flame Rounds are excellent for crowd control. Lure a group of Molded into a tight hallway, like the one leading to the Boiler Room, and fire a single Flame Round.
Headshot Master
Description: Perform 10 headshots on enemies.
Strategy: This will likely come naturally during your first playthrough. Always aim for the head on Molded enemies. Their heads are their primary weak point, and a critical headshot can often stagger or instantly kill them. Use the M19 Handgun or the M37 Shotgun for reliable headshots. The Mia segment in the Guest House also provides ample opportunity against the initial Molded encounters.
Close Combat Specialist
Description: Defeat 5 enemies with the Knife.
Strategy: This can be tricky due to the Knife's low damage output. It's best attempted against weaker enemies or already damaged Molded. Here are some tips:
- Crawling Molded: These are the easiest targets. After knocking them down with a few handgun shots, switch to the Knife and finish them off. You'll encounter several in the Processing Area and the Old House.
- Early Game Molded: In the Guest House, after Mia transforms, you can use the Knife to finish off the first few Molded if you're careful about dodging their attacks.
- Save State Abuse: If you're struggling, save your game before an encounter with a single, isolated Molded. Damage it significantly with a handgun, then switch to the Knife for the final blows. Reload if it doesn't count.
Exploration & Collectible Achievements
Pelican in Peril
Description: Find all Mr. Everywhere statuettes.
Strategy: There are 20 Mr. Everywhere statuettes scattered throughout the game. They are small, bobble-head-like figures that emit a distinct rattling sound when you are nearby. Destroying them with any weapon will count. It's highly recommended to follow a dedicated collectible guide for this, as many are cleverly hidden. Here are a few notable locations to get you started:
- Guest House 1F: Under the stairs leading to the attic.
- Main House 1F: In the Laundry Room, on a shelf near the washing machine.
- Main House 2F: In the Kid's Room, on a small table next to the window.
- Old House 1F: In the Dining Area, on a shelf above the fireplace.
- Testing Area 1F: In the monitoring room, on a shelf near the TV screens.
Pro Tip: Listen carefully for their distinct rattling sound. It's often the first indicator that one is nearby.
Treasure Hunter
Description: Find all the Antique Coins.
Strategy: Antique Coins are used to purchase upgrades and special items from the bird cages in Safe Rooms. There are 33 coins in total (on Normal difficulty; more on Easy/Madhouse). Like Mr. Everywhere, many are well-hidden. A comprehensive collectible guide is almost essential for this. Some key locations include:
- Guest House 1F: In the drawer of the microwave in the kitchen.
- Main House 1F: In the Living Room, on the fireplace mantel.
- Main House 2F: In the Bathroom, inside the toilet.
- Old House 1F: In the Gallery, on a small table.
- Wrecked Ship 3F: In the Captain's Cabin, on a shelf.
Pro Tip: Always check behind objects, inside drawers, and in obscure corners. Some coins are in plain sight but easily overlooked.
Challenge Achievements
Walk it Off
Description: Finish the game using 3 or fewer healing items.
Strategy: This achievement requires extreme caution and mastery of enemy patterns. It's highly recommended to attempt this on Easy difficulty after at least one full playthrough. Here's how to maximize your chances:
- Avoid Combat Where Possible: Many Molded encounters can be bypassed by simply running past them, especially in areas you've already cleared.
- Master Blocking: Blocking significantly reduces incoming damage. Practice timing your blocks to minimize health loss from unavoidable attacks.
- Use the Circular Saw (Post-Game Unlock): If attempting this on a New Game+, the Circular Saw is incredibly powerful and conserves ammo, allowing you to dispatch enemies quickly and take less damage.
- Prioritize Damage Upgrades: If you do engage in combat, ensure your weapons are fully upgraded to end encounters swiftly.
- Save Strategically: Save frequently, especially before challenging encounters. If you take too much damage, reload your save.
- Healing Item Management: Only use a First Aid Med or Strong First Aid Med as a last resort. Remember, you have a maximum of 3 uses for the entire game.
Resource Manager
Description: Finish the game using 3 or fewer First Aid Meds.
Strategy: This is essentially the same as "Walk it Off" but specifically tracks First Aid Meds. The strategies are identical: play on Easy, avoid combat, master blocking, and use the Circular Saw if available. Be mindful that Strong First Aid Meds also count towards this total. If you pick up a First Aid Med, consider leaving it in your item box unless absolutely necessary.
Madhouse Mayhem
Description: Complete the game on Madhouse difficulty.
Strategy: Madhouse is the ultimate challenge. Enemies are tougher, more numerous, and appear in different locations. Item placement is altered, and there are fewer save points (requiring Cassette Tapes). This should be your final playthrough for achievements. Here are crucial tips:
- Know the Map: Familiarity with the environment is paramount. You'll need to navigate quickly and efficiently.
- Master Blocking: Essential for survival. Blocking is even more critical here.
- Headshots are Key: Always aim for critical hits to conserve precious ammo.
- use the Item Box: Don't carry unnecessary items. Plan your inventory for each section.
- Antique Coins are Vital: Spend them wisely on upgrades like the Attack Coin or Defense Coin, and the Magnum.
- Unlockables are Your Friends: The Circular Saw, X-Ray Glasses, and Albert-01R are invaluable. Consider doing a speedrun first to unlock the Circular Saw.
- Cassette Tapes: These are limited. Save strategically before major boss fights or challenging areas.
- Boss Strategies: Bosses have increased health and damage. Refer to the "Madhouse Mode: [Boss Section]" in the main guide for specific strategies.
Speedrunner
Description: Complete the game within 4 hours.
Strategy: This is best attempted on Easy difficulty after at least one full playthrough. Your goal is to move as quickly as possible, avoiding all optional combat and exploration. Key strategies include:
- Skip All Cutscenes: Every second counts.
- Run Past Most Enemies: Unless an enemy is blocking a critical path or you need to clear an area for a puzzle, simply run past them.
- Know Puzzle Solutions: Don't waste time figuring out puzzles. Have the solutions memorized or readily available.
- Efficient Item Management: Only pick up essential items (keys, story items, necessary weapons/ammo). Don't bother with collectibles.
- Use the Circular Saw (New Game+): This weapon makes short work of most enemies, saving significant time in combat encounters.
- Strategic Saves: Save before major sections or boss fights. If you make a significant mistake or die, reload to save time.
- Route Optimization: Plan your route through the house to minimize backtracking.
Good luck, and may your playthroughs be filled with glorious trophy pops!
