Weapon Upgrades & Mods
Maximizing your firepower is crucial for surviving the horrors of the Baker estate. Unlike traditional RPGs, Resident Evil 7's weapon upgrades are not purchased or crafted from a menu. Instead, they are unique, physical attachments found throughout the game world. These mods permanently enhance a specific weapon's capabilities, offering benefits like increased capacity, reduced recoil, or improved firing rate. Finding these upgrades is often tied to exploration and puzzle-solving, so keep your eyes peeled!
How to Apply Weapon Mods
Once you acquire a weapon mod, it will appear in your inventory. Simply select the mod and then select the compatible weapon to apply it. The upgrade is instantaneous and permanent. There are no downsides to applying mods, so do so as soon as you find them!

General Tips for Finding Mods
- Thorough Exploration: Many mods are hidden in plain sight or behind minor environmental puzzles. Always check every nook, cranny, and shelf.
- Backtracking: As you acquire new keys (Crow Key, Snake Key, Scorpion Key), revisit previously inaccessible areas. Mods are often locked behind these.
- Listen for Clues: Sometimes the environment or character dialogue might subtly hint at hidden items.
- Use the Map: The in-game map will highlight areas you haven't fully explored. A red area usually means there are still items to find.
