This mission plunges you into the chaotic, infected streets of Raccoon City, introducing a more open environment and a terrifying array of new enemy types.

Mission Objectives

Your primary objectives for "Corruption" are multi-faceted, focusing on containment, elimination, and intelligence gathering:

Contain the Outbreak: While a losing battle, your initial goal is to minimize the spread of the T-Virus.
Eliminate Umbrella Personnel: Silence any Umbrella employees who could link the corporation to the outbreak.
Locate and Secure Evidence: Retrieve any sensitive data or samples that could incriminate Umbrella.
Neutralize Bio-Organic Weapons (BOWs): Confront and destroy the various mutated creatures now roaming the city.

Key Enemy Encounters

The streets of Raccoon City are far from empty. Be prepared to face a diverse and dangerous roster of enemies:

Zombies: The ubiquitous infected. While slow, they are dangerous in numbers. Aim for headshots to conserve ammo.
Crimson Heads: Faster, more aggressive, and tougher variants of zombies. They are identifiable by their reddish skin and extended claws. Prioritize these threats.

Ammo Conservation: While more open, ammo can still be scarce. Prioritize headshots on zombies and use melee attacks when safe.
Environmental Awareness: The city streets offer more cover and environmental hazards. Use cars, barricades, and buildings to your advantage. Exploding barrels and gas tanks can be used to clear groups of enemies.

Walkthrough: Navigating the Streets

Mission 2 begins with your team deployed directly into the infected urban landscape. The initial sections will feel more linear, guiding you through specific areas, but will soon open up.

Phase 1: Initial Containment

You'll start in a relatively contained street segment. Your first task will be to clear out a wave of standard zombies and a few Cerberus packs. This serves as an introduction to the urban combat environment.

Objective: Clear the immediate area of infected.
Enemies: Zombies, Cerberus.
Strategy: Use the overturned vehicles for cover. Aim for headshots on zombies. A shotgun is effective against Cerberus.

Phase 2: The Alleyways and Building Interiors

As you progress, you'll be directed through a series of narrow alleyways and into the ground floors of abandoned buildings. These areas are prime ambush points for Lickers.

Objective: Navigate through the urban maze to a designated rendezvous point.
Enemies: Zombies, Crimson Heads, Lickers.
Strategy: Move cautiously through alleyways. Listen for Lickers and be prepared to engage them. If you have a character with a silenced weapon, try to take them out stealthily. Crimson Heads are a new threat; they are fast and hit hard, so focus fire on them.
Notable Location: Expect to find a small medical supply cache in one of the building interiors, often containing a First Aid Spray and some Antivirals.

Phase 3: The Main Street Confrontation

You will eventually emerge onto a wider main street, which often serves as a significant combat zone. This area will be heavily populated with various infected and potentially a mini-boss encounter.

Objective: Clear the main street and proceed to the next sector.
Enemies: Large groups of Zombies, Crimson Heads, Lickers, and potentially a Tyrant (T-103) or a squad of Spec-Ops.
Strategy: This is where the 'more open environment' truly shines. Use the environment to your advantage. Exploding cars can create massive damage zones. If a Tyrant appears, focus all available firepower on it, especially its exposed heart. If facing Spec-Ops, utilize cover effectively and flank them if possible.
Key Loot: Look for weapon upgrades or higher-tier weapons (e.g., Assault Rifle, Shotgun) in abandoned police cars or military checkpoints.

Phase 4: Securing the Evacuation Point / Data Retrieval

The final segment of the mission typically involves reaching a specific location, such as a temporary Umbrella evacuation point or a data retrieval site. This will often be heavily defended by a combination of BOWs and potentially more Spec-Ops.

Objective: Secure the area and complete the mission's primary objective (e.g., planting a device, retrieving a data chip).
Enemies: Mixed forces, including multiple Lickers, Crimson Heads, and possibly another Tyrant or a final wave of Spec-Ops.
Strategy: This is the mission's climax. Coordinate with your team, use all available abilities, and don't hesitate to use grenades or special abilities. Prioritize high-threat targets like Lickers and Tyrants. Once the area is clear, interact with the objective marker to complete the mission.

Common Pitfalls and Missables

Running Ahead: The open environment can tempt players to rush, but this often leads to being overwhelmed. Stick with your team.
Ignoring Infection: The T-Virus can infect your character. If the infection meter fills, you will turn into a zombie, resulting in a game over. Use Antivirals immediately when infected.
Underestimating Crimson Heads: Their speed and damage output can catch players off guard. Treat them as a priority target.
Missing Collectibles: Keep an eye out for Umbrella logos, data files, and other collectibles hidden throughout the urban landscape. These contribute to your mission score and unlock lore.
