Episode 12: The Final Battle
Welcome to the climactic final episode of Resident Evil: Revelations! This guide will walk you through every step, from the initial encounters to the ultimate showdown with the game's final boss. Be prepared for intense combat and strategic resource management.
Initial Area: Deck and Bridge Approach
You'll begin on the deck of the Queen Zenobia, facing a gauntlet of enemies before reaching the bridge. Conserve your heavy ammunition for the boss fight, but don't hesitate to use your more common rounds here.
- Enemy Wave 1: Immediately upon starting, you'll encounter several Ooze creatures. Focus on headshots to conserve ammo.
- Item Location: After clearing the first wave, check the crates and barrels scattered around the deck for Handgun Ammo and Green Herbs.
- Enemy Wave 2: As you move towards the bridge entrance, more Ooze will emerge, including some Scagdead. The Scagdead are tough; aim for their weak point (the exposed mouth/head) with your most powerful weapons if necessary, or use grenades for crowd control.
- Bridge Entrance: Before entering the bridge, ensure you've scavenged all available items. There's often a Rifle Ammo cache near the door.
The Bridge: First Encounter with the Final Boss
Upon entering the bridge, you'll trigger a cutscene and the first phase of the final boss battle will begin. This initial encounter is designed to introduce you to the boss's attack patterns and allow you to chip away at its health.
- Boss Name: The Malacoda (or "Ultimate Abyss" as it's sometimes referred to).
- Strategy:
- Phase 1: Tentacle Attacks: The Malacoda will primarily attack with its massive tentacles, sweeping across the bridge. Dodge these by running to the left or right.
- Weak Point: Its glowing orange core is the primary weak point. Focus all your fire here.
- Weapon Choice: Use your most powerful weapons like the Rifle or Magnum for maximum damage. If you're low on these, the Shotgun can be effective at close range if you can get a clear shot.
- Resource Management: There are limited First Aid Kits and ammo crates around the bridge. Use them sparingly.
- Progression: After dealing enough damage, the Malacoda will retreat, and a path will open up.
Descent to the Engine Room
Following the Malacoda's retreat, you'll need to make your way down to the engine room for the final confrontation. This path is fraught with danger.
- Hallway Ambush: Expect several Fenrir (mutated wolves) to ambush you in the narrow corridors. A well-placed shotgun blast can take them down quickly.
- Item Location: Keep an eye out for hidden Explosive Grenades and Pulse Grenades in lockers and side rooms. These will be invaluable for the final boss.
- Elevator Shaft: You'll eventually reach an elevator shaft. Before descending, ensure your inventory is optimized. You'll want your strongest weapons equipped and plenty of healing items.
The Engine Room: Final Malacoda Battle
This is it – the final showdown. The Malacoda is significantly more aggressive and has new attacks in this phase.
- Arena Layout: The engine room is a large, multi-tiered area. Use the different levels and cover to your advantage.
- Boss Attacks:
- Tentacle Slam: The Malacoda will frequently slam its tentacles down, creating shockwaves. Jump or dodge to avoid damage.
- Acid Spit: It will spit corrosive acid pools onto the ground. Avoid standing in these.
- Ooze Spawns: Periodically, the Malacoda will spawn Ooze creatures to distract you. Prioritize taking these out quickly to avoid being overwhelmed.
- Weak Point: The glowing orange core remains its primary weak point. However, it will be more protected.
- Strategy:
- Focus Fire: Concentrate all your heavy weapon fire (Magnum, Rifle, Shotgun) on the core when it's exposed.
- Grenade Usage: This is the perfect time to unleash your Explosive Grenades. Aim them directly at the core for massive damage. Pulse Grenades can stun the Ooze spawns, giving you breathing room.
- Movement is Key: Continuously move around the arena to avoid attacks and create openings for your shots. Don't stay in one place for too long.
- Healing: Use your First Aid Kits strategically. Don't wait until you're critically low on health.
- Co-op (if applicable): If playing with a partner, coordinate your attacks. One player can draw aggro while the other focuses on the weak point.
- Final Blow: After dealing enough damage, the Malacoda will be stunned, exposing its core for a prolonged period. Unleash everything you have during this window to finish it off.
Congratulations, you've defeated the Malacoda and completed Resident Evil: Revelations! Enjoy the ending cinematic.
