Episode 8: All on the Line

Welcome to Episode 8, "All on the Line." This episode sees Jill and Parker separated and facing new threats. You'll need to be resourceful and quick to survive the gauntlet ahead.

Part 1: Jill's Gauntlet

Jill finds herself in a precarious situation, navigating a flooded, enemy-infested area. Your primary objective is to reach the Observation Deck.

Flooded Corridor & Promenade

  • Initial Encounter: As soon as you gain control, prepare for an Ooze ambush. Take them down efficiently.
  • Navigating the Water: The water significantly slows your movement. Prioritize taking out enemies from a distance before they can close in.
  • Item Scavenging:
    • Check the small alcoves and submerged areas for Handgun Ammo and Green Herbs.
    • A Weapon Box can be found in a partially submerged room off the main corridor. use it to optimize your loadout. Consider bringing a powerful shotgun for close-quarters Ooze.
  • Promenade Ambush: Upon entering the Promenade, you'll face a larger group of Ooze, including some Pincer Ooze. Use environmental hazards if available, or focus fire on their weak points (the orange core).

Dining Room & Kitchen

  • Dining Room: This area is relatively clear initially, but be prepared for a few Ooze to emerge as you progress. Look for a Green Herb on a table.
  • Kitchen: The Kitchen is a tight space. Expect several Ooze, including a potentially dangerous Globster.
    • Globster Strategy: If a Globster appears, aim for its mouth when it opens. Shotguns are highly effective here. Try to keep your distance and use the kitchen counters for cover.
    • Key Item: On a counter in the kitchen, you'll find the Ship Map (Promenade Deck). This is crucial for navigation.

Casino & Observation Deck Approach

  • Casino Entrance: As you approach the Casino, more Ooze will appear. Clear them out before entering.
  • Casino Floor: The Casino is a large, open area. Several Ooze will spawn here.
    • Environmental Advantage: Look for explosive barrels or gas canisters to create chain reactions against groups of enemies.
    • Item Collection: Search the slot machines and tables for Handgun Ammo, Shotgun Shells, and Green Herbs.
  • Observation Deck Door: Once the Casino is clear, proceed towards the Observation Deck. Be ready for a final few Ooze before you reach the door.

Part 2: Parker's Predicament

Now controlling Parker, you're tasked with reaching the Observation Deck to rendezvous with Jill. This section is characterized by tight corridors and intense enemy encounters.

Engine Room & Lower Decks

  • Initial Fight: Parker starts in a flooded section of the Engine Room. Immediately, you'll be confronted by several Ooze. Use your starting weapons effectively.
  • Navigating the Flooded Areas: Similar to Jill, movement is hampered. Prioritize headshots and conserve ammo.
  • Item Scavenging:
    • Search the various machinery and catwalks for Machine Gun Ammo and Green Herbs.
    • A Weapon Box is usually accessible in a side room or near a save point. Adjust your loadout for close-quarters combat.
  • Scagdead Encounter: Expect at least one Scagdead in the lower decks.
    • Scagdead Strategy: Aim for the small, exposed head on its shoulder. Shotguns and powerful rifles are excellent for quickly dispatching them. Maintain distance and use dodge maneuvers.

Elevator Shaft & Upper Decks

  • Elevator Puzzle: You'll encounter a broken elevator. You need to find a way to power it.
    • Fuse Location: The Fuse is typically located in a small, easily overlooked room or locker near the elevator controls. Use your Genesis scanner if you're having trouble locating it.
    • Power Restoration: Insert the fuse into the control panel to activate the elevator.
  • Ascending the Shaft: As the elevator ascends, be prepared for Ooze to drop down from above or attack from the sides. Keep your weapon ready.
  • Upper Deck Corridors: These corridors are often narrow and lead to ambushes. Expect a mix of Ooze and possibly a Hunter.
    • Hunter Strategy: Hunters are fast and agile. Aim for their heads or use a powerful weapon to stagger them. Avoid their leaping attacks.

Observation Deck Approach (Parker)

  • Final Push: The path to the Observation Deck will be heavily guarded. Expect multiple Ooze and potentially a Scagdead or two.
  • Conserve Resources: Use your remaining ammo and healing items wisely. There's a boss fight coming up.
  • Rendezvous: Once you reach the Observation Deck, a cutscene will trigger, bringing Jill and Parker together.

Part 3: Boss Fight - Scarmiglione

Jill and Parker must now face the formidable Scarmiglione, a massive, mutated Ooze. This boss requires coordinated effort and precise aiming.

Scarmiglione Battle Strategy

  • Weak Points: Scarmiglione has two primary weak points:
    • Arm: The large, mutated arm is a significant target. Damaging it enough will cause it to explode, temporarily stunning the boss.
    • Leg: The exposed, fleshy leg is another critical weak point. Focus fire here when the arm is regenerating or if you have a clear shot.
  • Attack Patterns:
    • Charge Attack: Scarmiglione will charge at you. Dodge to the side to avoid being trampled.
    • Arm Swipe: It will use its large arm to swipe horizontally. Duck or backpedal to avoid.
    • Ground Slam: The boss will slam its arm into the ground, creating a shockwave. Jump or dodge away.
    • Water Burst: In the flooded arena, it can cause geysers of water to erupt. Watch the ground for tell-tale ripples.
  • Cooperative Tactics:
    • Divide and Conquer: One player can distract Scarmiglione while the other focuses on a weak point.
    • Stun and Attack: Exploding the arm will stun the boss, creating a window for both players to unleash heavy damage on the leg.
    • Ammo Conservation: Use your most powerful weapons (shotguns, rifles, magnum) on the weak points. Conserve handgun ammo for clearing smaller enemies if they appear (though less common in this fight).
  • Environmental Hazards: Look for any explosive barrels or objects in the arena that can be used to your advantage.
  • Healing: Keep an eye on your partner's health. Use Green Herbs or First Aid Sprays as needed.

Continue to focus fire on its weak points, dodge its attacks, and coordinate with your partner. Eventually, Scarmiglione will fall, concluding Episode 8.
