Welcome to Mission EX-1: Mine (Night)! This mission takes the familiar Mine environment and plunges it into darkness, adding an extra layer of challenge and requiring careful navigation and strategic use of your flashlight. The enemies here are more aggressive, and visibility is severely limited, making sound cues and environmental awareness critical.

General Strategies for the Mine (Night)

Flashlight Management: Your flashlight is essential for spotting enemies and items in the dark. However, it can also give away your position. Use quick flashes to scan areas, and keep it off when you need to be stealthy or conserve battery (though battery drain isn't a major concern in Mercenaries 3D).
Sound Cues: Listen carefully for enemy grunts, footsteps, and the tell-tale sounds of approaching Ganados. This is often your first warning in the dark.
Melee Opportunities: Stun enemies with headshots and follow up with melee attacks to conserve ammo. This is even more crucial in the dark where missed shots are more likely.
Explosives: Grenades and proximity mines are incredibly effective in the tight corridors and enemy clusters of the mine. Use them to clear groups or create breathing room.
Know the Layout: Familiarity with the Mine's layout from previous missions will be a huge advantage, even in the dark. Anticipate enemy spawns and plan your routes.

Detailed Walkthrough

Starting Area: Mine Entrance

You begin at the mine entrance. Immediately turn on your flashlight. Two Ganados will likely be directly ahead. Take them down quickly. To your left, you'll find a Green Herb on a crate. To your right, near the collapsed mine cart, there's usually a Handgun Ammo pickup.

Action: Eliminate initial Ganados.

First Tunnel Section

Proceed into the first tunnel. Expect several Ganados to emerge from the darkness. Keep your flashlight on to illuminate them. A good strategy here is to backpedal slightly while firing, creating distance. Look for explosive barrels; shooting these can clear groups efficiently.

Strategy: Backpedal and fire, utilize explosive barrels.
Enemy Type: Standard Ganados.

Mine Cart Area

As you reach the area with the mine carts, be prepared for a larger ambush. Several Ganados, including some with pickaxes, will converge. This is an excellent spot to deploy a Grenade if you have one, or use a powerful shotgun blast to thin the herd. Check the mine carts themselves for potential item pickups like Shotgun Shells or Rifle Ammo.

Action: Clear the mine cart area.
Strategy: Use Grenades or powerful weapons for crowd control.

Lower Level Descent

Descend the ramp or stairs to the lower level. The darkness here is even more pronounced. Be wary of Ganados dropping down from ledges above or emerging from side passages. A Time Bonus (30 seconds) is often located on a barrel or crate in this section. Grab it to extend your mission time.

Action: Navigate the lower level.

Enemy Type: Standard Ganados, potentially some with pickaxes.

Central Cavern & Bridge

This is a critical area. As you enter the central cavern, you'll likely encounter a Chainsaw Ganado (Dr. Salvador). Prioritize him immediately. Use your most powerful weapon (Shotgun or Rifle) and aim for headshots. If you have a Flash Grenade, now is the time to use it to stun him and follow up with a melee attack. Several regular Ganados will also spawn, so manage your crowd control. Cross the wooden bridge, but be aware that Ganados may try to cut you off from both sides.

Priority Target: Chainsaw Ganado (Dr. Salvador).
Strategy: Focus fire on Dr. Salvador, use Flash Grenade for stun. Manage regular Ganados.
Item Pickup: Often a First Aid Spray or Magnum Ammo near the bridge or in the cavern.

Exit Tunnel & Final Push

After crossing the bridge, you'll enter the final tunnel leading towards the exit. Expect a final wave of Ganados, possibly including a few more pickaxe variants. Keep moving and eliminate threats as you go. There might be a final Time Bonus (60 seconds) or a Green Herb near the very end of the tunnel, often tucked away in a corner.
