Act 1: The Realm of the Duke

Following the disorienting events of the prologue, Rose finds herself in a familiar yet unsettling environment: the Duke's Emporium. This section will guide you through your initial interactions with the enigmatic merchant, help you understand the new mechanics introduced, and prepare you for the challenges ahead in this distorted memory world.

Upon regaining your bearings, you'll notice the Duke is present, but his usual jovial demeanor is replaced with a more somber, almost ethereal presence. He serves as your primary vendor and information source in this realm. Take a moment to explore the immediate area around his cart. You'll find a few scattered items that are crucial for your early survival.

  • Interacting with the Duke: Approach the Duke to initiate dialogue. He will offer cryptic advice and, more importantly, access to his wares.
  • Understanding the Currency: Unlike the main game, you won't be using Lei. Instead, you'll be collecting a new resource: Molds. These shimmering, fungal growths are found throughout the environment and are used to purchase items and upgrades from the Duke.
  • Initial Purchases: Prioritize purchasing the First Aid Med recipe if you don't already have it. Ammunition for your starting handgun is also a wise investment. Consider a small upgrade to your inventory space if Molds allow.
  • New Mechanics: Pay close attention to the Duke's dialogue regarding Rose's new abilities. You'll gain access to a limited form of her powers, which will be essential for solving puzzles and combating the new threats.

Before venturing out, ensure you've thoroughly checked the immediate vicinity of the Duke's cart for any hidden Molds or crafting components. The early game is about resource management, and every little bit helps.
