Having navigated the treacherous exterior of The Stronghold, you now face its claustrophobic interior. This section will guide you through the initial rooms and corridors, highlighting key items, potential threats, and the path forward. Be prepared for close-quarters combat and puzzles that test your observation skills. The Stronghold's interior is a labyrinth of ancient mechanisms and lurking dangers, demanding a cautious and methodical approach.
Your primary objective here is to locate and activate the various mechanisms that will allow you to progress deeper into the fortress. Keep an eye out for hidden passages and breakable objects, as valuable resources and lore documents are often tucked away in unexpected places. The enemies within are more resilient than those you've faced outside, so conserve your ammunition and utilize environmental advantages whenever possible.
Upon entering The Stronghold's interior, you'll find yourself in a dimly lit antechamber. Your immediate goal is to locate the crank needed to open the heavy wooden door blocking your path. Look for a small, ornate table to your left; the Crank is resting on it. Once acquired, approach the door and interact with the mechanism to use the crank, slowly grinding open the way forward. Be ready for a potential ambush as the door opens, as enemies often lie in wait just beyond. Proceed cautiously into the next corridor, keeping your weapon drawn.
As you move through the initial hallways, pay close attention to the walls. There's a small, easily missed alcove on the right side of the first long corridor containing a pouch of Shotgun Ammo. Further along, you'll encounter your first Lycan in the interior. These variants are often more armored or aggressive than their outdoor counterparts. Aim for headshots or use your shotgun for quick takedowns. After dispatching the enemy, investigate the small room to the left. You'll find a Chemist's Flask on a shelf, a crucial component for crafting.
